The Columbia Women’s Trekster Knee Pant uses a DWR-coated stretch-nylon fabric to give you total freedom of movement on the trail. Gusseted legs and an 18-inch inseam doesn’t exactly hurt either. These Columbia pants also include UPF 30 sun protection to keep you safe from the summer’s rays when you hit the trail under a bluebird sky.

Bottom Line: You can’t beat a summer hike.

These basically rested perfectly just above the hip on me. No stretching and room in the seat to be scrambling around if needed. I ordered the 4X18 in sage. A similar style in the same size (Coral Compass) left me with about 2 extra inches of gap in the waist.
I'm 5'1" about 105-110lbs (post turkey day:) Normally a 0-2 pant size, but was worried about a 2 being too tight. (UGH...... tape measure-wise *sigh* I measure a 27" at waist, and 31" at the hip)
Here is the ruling from "the tape".
all measurements are taken with the garment laying flat in the classic v-position. (Size-4X18)
Waist- 14-14.5" in the back. front "dips" about 1.5" lower in the front.
Length (top of waist-bottom) about 26"
Inseam - 17"
@ tip of zipper pocket diameter 9-9.5"
Leg opening -8.5-9" with about 1" slit on outside seem.

Slash line pockets in front--not my favorite. A stacked double cargo style pocket on left side with velcro square corners closure), one zipper vertical pocket on the right side (which I'm not so sure about practically, but looks nice) and no rear pockets.
Oh, the belt loops are about 2" wide all the way around except for the center of back, which is "normal" width (just shy of 1/2").

Overall, I'd recommend looking at the Trekster, a capri pant, even if they do call it a knee pant. Comfortable right out of the package.

Keep in mind, this review is based on the "look" (not extensive wearing experience... yet :-) ).

Hope this helps.

Nice enough to wear for casual get-togethers

These pants are very comfy because of all the stretch and have a high SPF too! They hang low on the hip (a little lower than I like) and because they are nylon - they can get static cling with panty-lines showing. I wear them often.

Great fit...very comfy....wearing now to work, but think the pant will be a good choice for the mid summer hikes when the heat turns up. Nice pockets. Knee bends are easy.

As soon as I received these pants, they became my favorite capris. Comfortable, light and fabric not clingy.

Kinda stretchy, but not clingy

I got these to wear for a weekend where I was going to be doing a lot of prayer walking and I needed pockets to carry stuff and needed a length longer than my knee for modesty, but not pants length since it was supposed to be warmish. These knee pants fit the bill PERFECTLY! The material is elastic-y but not clingy, which also fit my modesty requirement. I could sit, stand, walk and pray without compromise. The pockets carried my ID and some prayer-walking materials and they were just what I needed for the cool (upper 60s) mornings and relatively warm (mid 80s) days. I liked them so much I got two pairs and plan on using them for geocaching. Highly recommended!

Nice fit, very sleek! BUT the sage is green, not brown as it appears in the picture.

My favorite pants!

These pants are wonderful! Nice fitting, very comfortable, easy care. I love the stretch nylon fabric. Very durable and none of the stretching/shrinking problems of cotton. Sizing is accurate. Love the secure pockets. I've ordered a pair of these in every color!

Columbia Trekster Knee Pant

These pants are my favorite hiking pants. I usually wear a size 6, and these fit comfortably in that size. The pocket styling is a nice touch. The waistband doesn't pinch or roll and the pockets lie flat. If you're short like me, this won't hit you at the knee. I'm 5' tall and they hit me mid-calf.
