Built with waterproof outer layers and breathable inner layers, the Columbia built the Men's Titanium Ice Dragon II Winter Boots for your cold weather winter adventures. Fully seam-sealed and made with a waterproof leather outer layer, this monster keeps wetness out so you can trek through the snow all day long. A breathable internal membrane works to keep water out while allowing foot perspiration to escape, and Columbia's Thinsulate Ultra acts as insulation for your feet. The Titanium Ice Dragon's moldable polypropylene layer creates a good fit and adds warmth. To give you traction on wet surfaces and all kinds of terrain—including dragon caves—these boots have a durable Vibram Trek outsole.

Bottom Line: Columbia's Titanium Ice Dragon 2 is an extreme cold-weather boot built for all your outdoor quests.

Good warm boots

From the reviews I guess there are different-quality productions of the same boot.

I've had a pair of these for five years already. I didn't use them that extensively but took them once to the top of mt. Elbrus in Russia (5642m) in August. It was a 16-hour climb in snow and heavy winds. It was a daring try but they performed very well (though for about 30 min I felt my toes going numb - was alright afterwards).
Water- and snowproof completely. Modern-day boots would breathe better, I reckon, but mine are still doing great job. Of course, you need to let them dry after use.

No issues as to falling apart etc. I read from other people. I also used them on rugged terrains, like moraines, where the shoe is in constant contact with stones of different size and shape.

They are definitely not suitable for -65C as the tag shows - no idea why the company said that. Up to -15C with a thick sock - yes.

Don't buy them, or any of the boots Columbia makes

I have a pair of the Titanium boots that I have rarely worn that are falling apart. It looks like where the leather and the rubber meet is only some really weak glue. What a waste of $100+. They only have a warranty of one year, but don't take into account that some people don't heavy use the boots and expect that the boots will last a little longer. Very disapointed.

Great boots in sub-zero temps!

By:
January 9, 2008

Took these on a trip to Colorado in December. I was standing in snow up to my knees/thighs for about an hour, -9 degrees outside, and my feet never felt even remotely cold. Admittedly, I had a good pair of ski socks under them, but they stayed dry and warm thanks to these shoes. Oh, and no slipping around either, pretty clever tread. Look good, work great!

Sorry to hear this but it doesn't surprise me about anything that Columbia makes. Their fleece is the only item I would ever consider buying. Contact the following with your complaint:http://www.columbia.com/where/corporate_offices.aspx

Not A Bad Choice!

By:
January 2, 2008

I use this boot primarily for winter biking in the great white north of Alaska. The boot itself is a wonderful well made boot but it definitely does not live up to its extreme cold weather claim. After about an hour in zero below conditions my toes start getting numb. To counter act this I started using a vapor barrier along with my linear and wool sock combo. The boots them selves have great traction on both snow and ice and are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in.

Solid winter boot

By:

I think this is a good boot. The vibram soles are really good in the snow. They're super warm. My boy likes them for snowshoeing because of the little lip deal on the back for a more bomber connection. He also hooks his gaiters on the D ring, nice feature.

Returned Ice Dragon II

By:
February 1, 2008

I liked the boots a lot, but I ordered them online and they were a little too big. I needed boots right away so I had to return them back to Backcountry and purchase the correct size elsewhere. I have the right size now and I love them. Very warm and comfy once they break in.

Perfect for my need

By:
March 20, 2008

These boots are very warm and comforatable on the snow. As a Ski Patroller I needed something that I can put on and stay on the snow for hours. These boots worked exactly as I thought they would. I still have to break them in, but I expect to get a lot of seasons out of these.

An average boot masquerading as hardcore

By:
March 3, 2008

Columbia should just get out of the boot business. They make great clothes but their boots are terrible. These boots are rated to -65 degrees. I'll guarantee you they come nowhere close to this. I went sledding with my daughter and I had on thick thermal socks. My feet were cold within a half hour. They'll keep your feet warm when its warm and conditions are ideal or if you aren't out for more than a few minutes, or if you're doing some serious hiking and generating your own heat, but when push comes to shove these boots are overpriced junk.
