Columbia Infant Boys' Snow Powder Down Bunting fends off winter's chill with help of a healthy serving of down insulation. Take your son out for a walk in the stroller even on those chilly winter mornings. Your son will love the Snow Powder Bunting's soft-to-the-touch taffeta lining. Zip the full-length zipper up to his chin, pull the warm hood over his head and set out for a little morning wake-up walk. This cozy one-piece covers your little guy from head to toe in down warmth while the fold-over hand and foot flaps keep your son's body heat locked in tight.

Bottom Line: Dress your son in the Columbia Snow Powder Down Bunting's comfortable warmth when the mercury drops.

After checking out all the competition - this was perfect

By:
January 9, 2010

I love this suit. Bought it for my 9 month old and it has kept him toasty on several cold and snowy days here in CT. I checked out all the competition online and in stores and this served our needs at the right price. Size was great (my son is 99 percentile for height and I got the 18 month). Also - I tried on the Patagonia one in the store and this seemed to be MUCH more comfortable for him when zipped up. After reading the reviewers from Alaska rave about this I knew it would be good. The fold-over hands and feet are awesome since my son loves to kick off his shoes and yanks off his gloves (you don't have to use them). I think that if your child is older and walking (my son is not) and more likely to get wet then a synthetic fabric might be more practical than the down but there is no comparison for warmth to this suit. Also - it compressed comfortably when we stuck him in the carseat and the smoothe fabric inside means easy in and out (easier to put on than his regular coat!).

great suit

By:
January 8, 2010

This suit is great! I have a big 3.5 month old. He has just outgrown size 3-6 mo clothes and fits with room to grow in 6 mo size. I bought him the 12 mo snow suit, and it worked great with plenty of room, but fit enough that I didn't wish I had bought the smaller size. Since the feet can come out of this one, he may still be able to use it next year when he can wear boots. I also like the nylon interior because it's easy to slip him in. We used this for snow play with the older kids in 20-30 degree weather and he was toasty warm. It washes and dries fine also.

Write your question here...If I just want something for this winter to run in and out of stores with............do I get the down one or the fleece? I don't want him to be too hot in the car and such.....but warm enough for the trips in and out of places.

Hey Carrie,
If you're up in Fargo, ND you may want to set your little guy up with down:) You should be totally fine just doing fleece for him. They won't be much different in terms of warmth in the car but the down is going to be better out in the elements as far as being more windproof.
Hope that helps.

This suit was perfect! I thought it felt a little lightweight when I opened it, but it's so warm that I have to keep my van on the cool side so my little man doesn't overheat! He stays really warm and dry, even when I can tell that the outside is getting wet. I'm very happy with it! I also like that the hand and feet covers are really long, so they will not let snow in, even if he's playing around a bit. Plus, backcountry delivered it quite quickly. I believe I'll be using them again!

December 30, 2009

Great suit. Keeps him warm, and he's very comfy. Hood is big enough to actually use. Great for cold Minnesota weather. Love the fold-over hand/feet function.
We bought the 6mo size for him.. at 4 months its a tad big, but at the rate he's growing it should be about perfect through the next few months of winter.

I ordered this for my 5 month old for up here in Nome Alaska and I love it! It's so easy to put on him (being 5 months you know how squirmy they are) and its looks great and it keeps my son warm on our walks to the store or just out to enjoy your crisp beautiful weather! Thank you!

I'm thinking of getting this for my nephew who will be 5

I'm thinking of getting this for my nephew who will be 5 months old in December when he'll need it for the northern winter. Should I get the 6 mo or the 12 mo, which he could possibly also use through some of the southern hemisphere winter, too? I expect he will be on the larger side as he grows up so am leaning towards the 12 mo, but I don't want it to be too huge during the time that he'll need it for serious cold temperatures.

My son is 5 months old now and will be about 8 months by the time we will be using the suit. I bought the 12 mo size and it's a bit big. So I think it will be perfect by the time he wears it. My son is about 15 pounds right now :)

THE BOMB BUNTING!!!

By:
October 11, 2009

First off, let me say that this suit is the bomb ! ( the bomb is a slang term for great). I bought one last year for my 3 month old and it made my transporting her very easy. You really don't need bulky sweaters underneath. I only wish I would've ordered 12mos instead of 6mos so she could wear it again this year. That's ok , for this price I can afford to get another. Please don't ever stop making these suits. I'm 32 but wish I could fit in one because they look so comfy.

Great price, Great Quality for Alask's winter

By:
November 26, 2008

My 1 yr old doesn't seem to mind that when I put him in this bunting everytime we go the cold here in Anchorage, Alaska. I loved that when I forgot his mitten, I can just simply fold over the hand cover to keep his hands warm and it looks great in the snow. And my son can easily move/walking around with it and it is very light weight, not like the other snow suite we had that he fussed everytime we put him on that heavy thing. I loved it, it is great price and great quality for everyday uses. Good customer service as well when I called them. Thank you!

We think it is a great product, to me worththe money, well made and easily handles the trip from home to car, to daycare.
Oh if anything pick your child up a little hat the hood is loose on their little heads.

Hi I'm a first time mom . I live in brooklyn ny. I was wondering if I put my 1yr old another jkt on under this snowsuit. Or could I just put a a really thick sweater on under it? Also in the foot pockets can I just leave his socks on or the the shoes? I want him to be warm and not get over heated. Also why don't northface make snowsuits for infants or the bunting sacks that clip to the carseat?

This bunting is down insulated and super warm. I would think you would be over-doing it with an added jacket. Socks and boots would be good but anything more and you may roast the little guy/girl.

So i really can't understand what all these people was so exited about?

Very warm, no drafts, but buy a size larger than you think.

By:
January 7, 2009

We live in northern Canada and we spend tons of time outside-- this snowsuit rocks. Don't even need to put a toque (wool hat) on our son when he has the hood on (and hood is nice and fuzzy inside). Hand and foot fold-over flaps keep out snow and drafts, a must in cold weather.

Negative: with foot flaps folded over, baby can't walk in it-- too cumbersome and slippery. LOTS of static shocking... baby gets shocked all the time.

Positive: easy to put child in car seat. Plus, inside of arms and legs are a slippery material so you can slide their limbs in without bunching up their clothes.

Important! Fits pretty small... our son is only 11 months and he fills out the 24 month size with the flaps folded.

I am one of those overprotective fathers about my son being in the cold. I wouldn't let him go outside during the cold season without this thing on. An absolute must! Flaps were great. Fingers and toes stayed toasty warm. We kept his old one for our next baby and we bought another one in a larger size for him this winter.

great bunting, seems sizing is correct

By:
March 5, 2009

very warm, easy to "insert" my son in (we have size 6MO, he is 3 months but has already 15 lb). I think the sizing is correct, because he will be able to wear it at least for another month and he is wearing other clothes 3-6 months since he was 2 months. The only thing I would complain about is too small opening for his head when the zip is closed (maybe for smaller babies it would work better, I have to keep it slightly unzipped) and no cloth protection from zip inside.
Otherwise pretty cool product, I feel confident to take my baby outside in any weather. Montana mom

Columbia Snow Powder Snowsuit, Infant

November 29, 2008

Got this lightweight but very warm snowsuit for my 6 mo old babyboy last fall. It fits true to sz. I loved this snowsuit, quality is great! Down doesn't come out, zipper doesn't jam, lining is slippery polyester, not messy fleece. My son used this snowsuit for all cold season, i washed it several times and it still looked like new.
Great Snowsuit, you will not be dissapointed!

I bought this bunting for my baby girl and it's perfect! We live in Utah and it gets pretty bitter up here. We've taken her snowshoeing in it, carried her in the Kelty pack of course, and she was toasty warm. The zipper is covered up well from the inside so there's no chance of it irritating her skin. Yes there are pockets for the feet in both 12 and 18 month sizes. You'll love this bunting!!!

Not very far. Given the fact that "little dudes" get cold really easily and that this is a mere 450-fill down (450 means 450 cubic inches per ounce, which is at the low end of quality), its insulative power is not especially great. Add in the fact that it's not waterproof, and you should probably have some other layers on him and still not stay out too long.

Columbia Snow Bunting - Great for chilly temps in Alaska

So far this suit has been great! Nice polyester lining so kiddo slips right in. Have taken my son out in 0° Alaska weather with long underwear underneath and he stayed toasty! If you plan on using the fold over hands and feet, make sure you get a size bigger than you think you need... easier for the kids to move around with more room. Good customer service as well!

Down bunting

By:
January 2, 2009

For some reason, there weren't a lot of choices when I went looking specifically for a down bunting (not fleece). I found this Columbia one, and it is just right. Well, actually, the first one was size 12M for my 12M old, and it was too short to wear with the feet closed in my carrier. I swapped it out for the size 18M and we are now set. It is very snuggly, though I expected it to be a little heavier. On cold days, I use layers underneath and it's fine. My son is very comfortable in it, and usually falls asleep in the land of snuggliness. Easy to get on and off. A very good value for the money.

Columbia Down Snowsuit

December 29, 2008

My infant grandson lives in northern New England, famous for long harsh winters. I searched very carefully for a snowsuit that will help him comfortably negotiate the daily trip between his home and his child care center, and on Sunday dog walks on wintry Atlantic beaches. This suit was the warmest that I could find; that includes feet, hand coverage and hood, which fits him well. His mom says she would not change anything about it! Thanks.
