A flock of penguins gather to admire your stylish Columbia Women's Snow Hottie Parka. Although fashion may be the last thing on your mind when you're helping man a weather station in Antarctica, there's no reason you can't look good while staying warm in punishingly cold conditions. Columbia threw all the technology at its disposal to make this 3-in-1 jacket one of the warmest you can buy, including its Omni-Heat electric heater system in the liner jacket that delivers core warmth at three different levels for up to six hours. And if you're not pushing the bounds of scientific knowledge at the poles but simply making turns in slope-emptying conditions, the Snow Hottie is fully tricked out with ski-friendly features to ensure that you are set from first chair to last.

  • Omni-Tech waterproof breathable membrane on the shell stands up to wet winter weather, while Omni-Shield treatment of the liner jacket repels light precipitation
  • 80g polyester fill insulation in the liner locks in just enough warmth to keep you comfortable
  • Omni-Heat Thermal Reflective lining in both jackets reflects your body heat back towards your skin so you stay warmer on brutally cold days
  • Underarm zip vents allow you to dump excess heat
  • Inferno handwarmer pockets give your hands a cozy spot to burrow into

Bottom Line: Those penguins know a thing or two about style, as well as cold weather.

The American Heart Association lists electric blankets and heating pads as safe for people with pacemakers. (http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/Conditions/Arrhythmia/PreventionTreatmentofArrhythmia/Devices-that-may-Interfere-with-Pacemakers_UCM_302013_Article.jsp#.TxXh4PF5mSM)

Assuming Columbia relies on similar technology, you should be safe.

That said, please don't rely on me for medical advice and check with your doctor if you have concerns.
