Columbia designed the Long-Sleeve Silver Ridge Shirt for backcountry trekkers and world travelers. This button-down shirt's lightweight ripstop nylon makes life on the road or the trail a bit easier. Omni-Dry fabric dries quickly and wicks moisture to keep you comfortable if you work up a sweat, and a UPF 30 treatment protects you from the sun's rays. If the sun gets too hot, use the buttons to convert the Silver Ridge Shirt into a short-sleeve top and open the vents at the underarm, pockets, and back.
Bottom Line: When it's going to be cool in the morning and hot in the afternoon, button up the convertible Columbia Long-Sleeve Silver Ridge Shirt and get out there.
Got a couple of shirts and already owned an omni-dry shirt from the previous series.
I'm a biologist and have used the shirts in the tropical rain forest in 30Km+ hikes where you walk two meters and are already sweating a lot.
The shirts definitively make a difference they are light, remain dry, and the fabrics in this new TITANIUM series have a bit more structure and don't wrinkle, which makes them look always good. I'm usually Medium in t-shirts but in Columbia I'm Small.
I have two of these. They are awesome for running around town or enjoying the great outdoors. The roll up sleeves are nice. It does have a nice fit, not to baggy and not too tight and ventilates well. Many people seem to like it and think it is slick with the sleeves buttoned up. When wet, it drys very fast. The only bad thing is that after washing and dried, it is a little "stiff" feeling until you move around in it. I like to think of it as my "Indiana Jones" utility shirt.

I'm a world traveller and photographer for major network television. Having travelled to some of the most remote locations on earth, this shirt never gets left behind. I have four of them...it's the only shirt I'll wear when I'm in the field.
This is a great shirt to have stuffed in a backpack for a light extra layer, and is woven tight enough that mosquitos seem to have a hard time getting to flesh. Being nylon, however, it doesn't seem to breath well, so when hiking I sweat more. I wear it in the field as well as in town and overall is very comfortable.
I like the way the shirt fits because it doesnt balloon out around the midsection. It's very light weight and hides sweat well. I wish I had 10 of these in different colors. It is a utility shirt, however, and can't be worn just anywhere.
Very nicely tailored. Has interesting features such as secure pocket-within-pocket to keep cellphone or small camera above the fray. Long size is slim cut with ample sleeve length. Downside: questionable abrasion resistence. Pressing with hot iron will make a hole in the shirt.
I bought the discontinued color at half price... So, I'd say that for that price it'll be difficult to get better one. Good under the sun, light and good looking...

I love this shirt. I am a contractor in the Middle East, scorching hot during the day and cool at night, this shirt works well in both conditions. Comfort, function and good looking. I now own three of these in different colors.
Received shipment promptly and in good order. Very happy with the fit and comfort of this hiking shirt... it is everything it's advertised to be. Would buy this product again. Thank you Backcountry!
These products from Columbia (while expensive) are absolutely fantastic. Their ability to "breathe" and evaporate the moisture from your body make a perfect companion on the trails. This shirt for me is the perfect hiking shirt offering breathability, SPF protection, and long sleeves (or roll them up and clip them).
