Okay Shirt

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this shirt because I wanted to shield myself from the sun when I'm in the outdoors. So, I wore it on three day backing packing trip and it performed well. It blocked the sun and was very breathable. During paddle boarding the zipper pocket was very helpful in keeping my car key safe from falling in the water. The let down is that the material pilled where my arms were chafing. Since it's the outdoors it matters a lot less that I'm wearing a pilled shirt but it's still a flaw in the fabric.

Good Hiking Shirt

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love this shirt. It is perfect for the breezy days when I go hiking and work up a sweat. It keeps me warm when I need it to, but it also wicks away my sweat when I need it to. I would definitely recommend this to my friends. It is a great shirt for a great price.

best shirt of this kind I've found

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Like the first reviewer I have wide shoulders and it's hard to find button-up shirts that fit across the shoulders without being comically large elsewhere. This one could be a touch wider across the shoulders but it is definitely better than almost all shirts I have ever tried on. The cut is also much more flattering than most technical shirts on me and the fabric feels much nicer than most synthetics. I did find that the fabric can snag, but I didn't have the problems with it that the first review describes. The extra flip-up part of the collar is a joke but the regular part of the collar when flipped up is basically enough coverage. I wish Columbia would stop putting pockets all over their shirts but at least these aren't so obvious. This shirt was the only one I kept out of about a dozen that I tried recently. I took it on a 10-day backpack and it performed really well. Happy to find something that works!

Nice fit, but weak fabric

This is my first review, and I feel bad its negative. I received this as a gift, and it fit great. Its hard to find a button down shirt that is both flattering and fits across my wide shoulders. I wore it geocaching with a water pack on. It kept all the burrs and ticks off my merino baselayer, so in that aspect, it worked great. But after 4 hours of movement, the shirt under the straps and under the pack had worn down and appeared to chafe and almost wore through. I am not sure if this is a feature of the fabric, but I was sad to have to return it.
