It's hot outside and you want to wear a shirt that looks nice and keeps you cool. Pull on the Columbia Women's Omni-Dry Silver Ridge III Short-Sleeve Shirt. Mesh vents in this button-up shirt cool your engines whether you're on a Euro sightseeing tour or heading out to dinner in Belize. The nylon Omni-Dry fabric has a UPF 30 rating, wicks moisture, and dries quickly, while the Silver Ridge III Shirt's zip-close security pocket keeps an ID or cash safe.
Bottom Line: You can wear a button-down on hot days-- just choose one that wicks and vents like a champ.
I took this shirt on a 2 week adventure travel trip to China in July.. even though it was in the 90s-100s, this shirt worked like a pro. It protected me from the sun, was breathable, and dried quickly even though I was sweating bullets on the Great Wall. I hand washed this shirt a couple times on my trip and it was dry after a few hours. The fit is true to size, albeit slightly boxy for my trim waist. On days that the heat wasn't totally oppressive, I tied a scarf around my waist to define it, solving that issue.
I really like this shirt. Nice fit, dressy enough to wear to work on casual days and casual enough to wear out with jeans, and functional enough to wear on a hike. Lightweight, SPF built right in also a nice hidden pocket on one of the side seams...I'm gonna buy another!

I own 3 of these shirts and use them for everyday wear and for travel. The fabric is indestructible, cool in humid weather, dries fast and wrinkle resistant. The ibis red is really closer to coral in color. The invisible zipped side seam pocket is a great feature. If you have broad shoulders or chest consider sizing up.
This shirt has raglan sleeves for freedom of movement and a vented back. This baby doesn't stick when you sweat and washes and dries in a flash (or a river). The invisible right side seam zipped pocket is a terrific feature for a license or tiny Mp3 player. The fabric is tough with a soft hand and does not wrinkle. The only negative is that the chest and shoulder are a bit narrower than one might expect for an active shirt without stretch. Consider sizing up if you are large busted, have broad shoulders or like a loose fit.
This shirt is lightweight and great for any activity. It dries fast and doesn't smell, even after I wore it 2 or 3 days in a row while out hiking. It's worked wonderfully out in the desert as well - I don't know how many cactus or other terrible, painful desert plants I've bushwhacked through while wearing this shirt, and there's no sign of the fabric giving way. Shirts tend to run a little small - I ordered a size up and it fits perfectly. However, the red ibis color is more coral/pink than anything. Definitely recommend these!
I ended up sending the shirt back only because it was too small and I wanted a more cottony feel. But for someone who wants a lightweight quick-to-dry "travel" type shirt, it's great.
I own 3 of these shirts. I work in a busy Nursing Home as a cleaner. These shirts are tuff, I get the strongest bleaches on them every day but no stains, no marks, just amazing. Our residents love red idis colour.
wore this shirt on our 50 mile trip down the Paria river to Lee's Ferry. kept it's cool and comfort in the 105 deg. weather. It didn't bunch up under the backpack. I plan on buying another one.
