Whether you’re jetsetting to a foreign country or loading up your rod, reel, and backpack for a few days in the mountains, the Columbia Men’s Silver Ridge II Long-Sleeve Shirt gives you quick-drying performance and UPF 30 protection. When you’re tying on a fly, the sleeves roll up and secure with a button tab, and integrated venting in the shoulder helps keep you cool on hot, sunny days.
Got this for my husband for a backpacking trip. Went to Idaho in July and it was HOT! Stood up well to lots of sweating....dried out fast. True to size, good quality. Great for travel or any outdoor activity; fishing, hiking, camping or just hanging out. Would recommend this shirt for the acitve guy.
I wasn't sure how much I would like this shirt, I am a merino maniac when it comes to mid-layers, but I quickly found it to be indispensable. It is a great layer because it is versatile. Provides a little warmth on a cool morning, and keeps the sun off you in the hot afternoon, keeping you cool. If it gets too hot, roll the sleeves up using the convenient button and loop attached to the sleeve. It handles sweat well, and dries out lightning fast, even after a complete soaking (much faster than my merino layers, I must admit). This (along with my Smartwool midweight) has become a layer that I take on every backpacking trip, regardless of the season. The fit is good, go by the sizing chart.

I absolutely love this shirt, the best light weight outdoor shirt I have, and I have shirts that cost twice as much but they do not even compare. I need to get more!
I used this shirt for a 2 month backpacking trip through Europe and it held up great the whole time. It came in especially useful in Italy because it was so humid. The shirt packs down very small, but comes out pretty wrinkly. The UPF 30 protection was also very nice. The mesh panelling on the inside back of the shirt helped to keep the sweat from pouring down my back. This is a great shirt. I will definitely be purchasing another one in blue for this summer. Cant wait to use it on the river as well!
Let's face it. A good lightweight, button-down, long sleeve travel shirt is timeless. One shirt can get you through the airport, onto the airplane, through a month-long backcountry trek, and still get you through dinner at a respectable restaurant afterwards. Many of these shirts sport the same technology and perform equally as well. The reason I buy the Columbia ones is sizing. I'm 6'3", 185 lbs and have average length arms for my height. I swim in a typical XL and the typical L fits my body fine but the arms are too short. Columbia got the sizing right for me and you can often find great deals with them on sale.
The one thing I would change is the velcro pockets. In my experience, velcro pockets do not last as long, are noisy, and slightly less than "classy".
I had one of the originals of this shirt and unfortunately they upgraded a winning formula and messed it up. The original fits as though it was tailor made for me and so I ordered the same size in this upgraded version only to find it is not just a bit larger, but literally twice the size. The new cut is horrible. Will be sending them back unfortunately as otherwise they would have been great shirts. I wish i could find some of the older model of this shirt.
I have used these shirs for years for travel and hiking. They feel great and dry very fast. Just sorry they dropped the button down collar but I use sticky back velcro pieces under the collar velco to fix that.
Runs a little small. Ordered a large for my husband but had to exchange for an extra large. Besides that good shirt at a fair price. Fast quick delivery no issues with return process. Customer service is good!
I use these for desert hiking. I actually stay cooler when I keep the sun off , so I wear this shirt and a pair of polypro hiking pants. Shirt is true to size (M) for me.
Very comfortable fit. I took it on the last camping trip and it was the only shirt I needed. Felt good under a pack as well. And it looks good enough to just wear around town. Great Buy.
fantastic shirt, lightweight, dries super fast. i have been wearing throughout the s.pacific and have washed it numerous times in a sink, and dried it by wringing out and hanging over a pack over night. only one caveat, it is a little tight across the chest, (when compaired to other columbia shirts) especially when wearing a pack... otherwise it would be perfect.
I have 9 of these shirts in most of the colors offered. I started off with one last year, a closeout in Tangerine that I liked enough to get a few more at the time, because as they say "cotton kills". I'm writing this review though on the three that I just got. These are a newer model that differs from the original in that they have a regular pocket flap, not the tapered ones the earlier version of this shirt had. But what really sets these new versions apart is the fabric. First, Backcountry needs better graphics on their website. The Tank and Trail colors are not done justice by the photos as they are much richer and earthy in person. Next the newer fabric is softer with a nice "hand" and on the inside face is a micro mesh texture that ventilates and keeps the fabric from sticking to your skin. Off and on I've been into nice threads since I was 12, made my living in the "needle trade" for 18 years and have to say these newer made in India, Columbia SilverRidge II shirts blew my mind!I wore one the other day in the sun when the temp was in the 90s and was comfortable. I have not yet worn this new version in the bush to see how they hold up. I'll report back if they snag or run easily or exhibit any other negative wear characteristics.
Love the shirt. Breaths great, Looks great, good sun protection, dries fairly quick, and very comfortable. Runs a bit big in my opinion, but I'm sort of in-between sizes. My only complaint is that I have a hard time getting the wrinkles out. Besides that there are no complaints.
