What is the actual rise on these for a size 8, measuring from inseam of crotch to the top of the waistband?

Love them

The reviews were very helpful, im normally size 0 or 2, and I ordered this in 4, and it fits great with my skinny legs. The cut is straight. Fabric is very comfortable and breathable. Gravel color is greener actually.

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

These pants are probably fine if you can find the right size. I'm 5'11" 130 and usually wear size 2L in regular jeans. Based on the reviews by other customers I ordered these in a size up -- 4L. OMG I could barely get them over my hips and couldn't even begin to zip them. I'd probably have to get an 8L to fit, but I'm not going to try. Just going to return outright.

Good features if you can guess your size

  • Gender: Female

SIZE AND CUT QUESTIONS: Columbia's size chart is XS-XXL... and yet the pants use numeric sizes. Columbia sells the Silver Ridge in "straight" (with a flap pocket on the thigh) and "full" leg (zip pocket on thigh). Stores frequently mis-label them.

FIT: My measurements: 5'7", 150lbs, waist 30", hip 39", inseam 32". I ordered 8R, 8L, 10R, 10L. The regulars have a measured inseam of 31.8". The long is 33.5". The waist has a very nice adjustment system of hidden elastic/buttons. The hips and legs of these pants are cut smaller than expected. The 10's pull across my hips. The legs are snug and the location of the zip-off zipper makes them feel constricting there, but not terrible.

FEATURES: If you can find the right size, these pants are very lightweight and seem nicely constructed. They have mesh-lined, front pockets that are too shallow to use for anything valuable, put wallets and phones in a velcro cargo pocket on the thigh, a zipped back pocket, or a velcro back pocket. The leg cuff opening is very short. You could unzip the legs and pull them over hiking shoes, but I think you'd need to remove hiking boots. They have a nice hidden drawcord in the cuff if you want to snug them around your ankles. The pants unzip easily with a nice flap that hides the zipper, and one underneath to protect your leg from the zipper. The inseam of the shorts makes a long, protective short that hits about 2" above my knee. I personally find the length unflattering and slightly constricting as I move. I wish the zip-off zipper was higher so the shorts were 2-4" shorter.

VERDICT:
With all that said... I'll try ordering the 12R because I've tried all the other brands and models of lightweight convertible hiking pants and these and the Mtn Hardwear Ramesa's (I wear 8R in those - look for my review) are the best options for me.

Comfortable

I had tried a pair where I live which have the same "name" and same picture but the ones I got are a different type and run a little bit smaller than the pair I tried, especially in the thigh area.
But comfortable anyway for what I want them.

Nice, made for skinny-legged girls

Love the pants but the fit isn't great for me. I bought size 8 and have waist 28, hip 37. Inseam and overall fit is ok but waist is too big even when I use the internal resize band at the back of the waist, and the thighs are too tight for this big-legged girl. If you've got muscular thighs you'll like Patagonia's Solimar pants better.

Is the waist stretchy too? That's important to me. Thank you!

Sissy, I bought these pants from Dick's sporting goods in a size 8. I've never worn a size 8. Normally I'm around a 4-6. They do run small. I'm 5'7" and weigh 135. I love, love, love these pants! I wouldn't say the waist band has a lot of stretch, but it gives a little. It doesn't cut my waist like a lot of them do and they look feminine. The waist of the pants sit right at the bottom of my belly button where I measure 34 1/2". My hips are about 36 1/2". These pants fit perfectly and comfortably. There is still room for a couple more inches of hips, however, even though I don't fill that area completely, the hip area still lays very nicely. Dick's didn't have any other colors to choose from and the pants they had online were still $60 and had "full legs" vs "straight legs." That is why I'm ordering them from this site.
