The Seems Need Some Work...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

...well, actually, the seems need a lot of work. It's taken me a few months to write a review, but long story short, I strongly advise considering different pants with better quality material.

Yes, these pants are lightweight and comfortable, but I lost my cell phone and almost my wallet due to the seems and material ripping within the pockets.

Issue 1: The mesh within the back pocket ripped, allowing my wallet fall down my pants. The plus side is that its hard not to notice a wallet sliding down your leg, so that the wallet wasn't lost.

Issue 2: The seem on the left cargo pocket tore while holding my cell phone. As a result, I lost my cell phone somewhere along the snowy and brushy trail.

Great pair of pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Just did a 9 day backpack trip to Glacier Nat Park in Sept. 4 days were deep in in near the border in the Belly River Valley. Weather was tough, day before we hiked in a foot of snow hit area. Lows in 20's and highs upper 30's. Was a muddy greasy mess. Had a pair of cheap Frogg Togg rain pants over then (got too close to fire and melted these but will get another pair). Came out and hiked Many Glacier and Logan Pass areas in 60-70 degree weather. Got this pair and the gravel. LOVED them. Worked get in both extremes. Very comfortable!

Great hiking pant

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

35 miles pack packing in the Wind Rivers Range, Wyoming. Used two pair and washed them in the lakes. Very comfortable and tough. Bush whacked through dense forest and didn't tear or snag.
True to size.

Love these convertibles

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I am a woman, however I'd had trouble finding women's convertible pant that wasn't terribly unflattering and uncomfortable. Until I tried these that my boyfriend has. They do run small, order a size up. These pants are awesome though. I want a zillion pairs of these. They are comfortable and brilliant for backpacking.

Strange fit

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

I ordered these in my normal pant size of 36, which usually wears a little loose on me. The pants were too tight, so I sent them back and ordered 38's. The 38 was ok around the waist, but strangely "form-fitting" and left little to the imagination. I really like the material and pockets, but I'm sending them back again and looking at another style. I would recommend them to anyone with a small frame, but they're just not for me.

Comfort/cut = great. Color names = ?

Color is deceiving, but style and comfort is not. I purchased a pair of these pants after I already owned two of kaki colored pair. I purchased a pair of gravel pair from BC. Once arrived, Columbia apparently decided gravel is the color of a dark green or olive. I kept them, but tried to purchase a pair of grill color of the same style and couldn't because BC was sold out. I could though find a pair on Amazon sold by BC, but not available for APO AE shipping. They are in fact a great style and comfort and they are not as baggy as other Company's styles. Would I order them again? Definitely. Does Columbia need to re-do the pictures, description, yes.? Would I recommend them to someone else, yes. Just pay attention to color choices. Also, a sad note: I surveyed over 25 people and not one said gravel was green. They all said grey. Just a note for Columbia not BC. Oh as said, I have a total of four pair of these now - different color's. They dry great, easy to clean (recommend air dry), and depending on packing style, wrinkles come out quickly. This is easily a better comfort (and cost) then other brands (just my opinion). I've taken this out camping, day hiking, and on overseas travel. For a person that says they are a 30W32L this will fit with wiggle room depending on your... hydration. As said, buy the right color and size and it will meet your needs.

Comfort/cut = great. Color names = ?

Be careful with the size!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

First off, I LOVE these pants! I travel a great deal and these cant be beat. They are light weight, wear great, feel awesome on, and are super comfortable. The only complaint/concern I have is that they run a little small. I am always a 34 waist (for the last 20 years anyhow) and after buying these in a 34 I had to send them back. Just too tight. I opted for the next size up, a 36 and they fit just like the 34 should. So just remember to go up 1 waist size on your order and things will work out great. The length is not a problem and runs true to size.

Dad Loved It!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift
  • Fit: True to size

I got these for my dad along with the backcountry goat tee. He likes wearing them together (the gravel color goes very nicely with the green in the t-shirt) He has been looking for a pair of convertibles for awhile and said the fabric on these were better quality than the ones he had been looking at in the store.

I do a lot of urban exploring and running and I need to know if they will hold up to heavy abrasion against concrete and bricks I have a pair of north faces and within a few hours I had a hole in them will these hold up?

Great!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

So I just recently bought these pants and I am impressed. They fit really comfortably and are not to loose. I plan on using them for climbing, and they seem perfect for that. They stretch and feel comfortable and are very breathable. Haven't tried them climbing yet so I can't recommend them. Will update.

Great Pant

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I love these pants. I am 6'1 180/185 and I find that many of the cheaper outdoor pants are not cut very well for my body type. These are an exception. They fit perfectly. I also appreciate the zip feature as I often have cooler mornings but hot afternoons and evenings. I wish they were slightly better at repelling water, but I know that isnt what they were designed for so I dont have too much room to complain.

In addition to this, they have plenty of cargo space, and the fabric seems tough enough to me!

Durable, Comfy, and Easy to Zip Off

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I gave these pants as a gift for a month long hike in Nepal and was informed that they were amazing, They truly were comfortable, ran true to size, easy to convert, have a durable zipper that does not seem to malfunction with dirt and grime, and the Nylon exterior handled abrasion wonderfully. The only negative I heard back about was that the shorts were on the short side with a 10 inch inseam.

These are unstoppable...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These are by far my favorite pants! The Silver Ridge ripstop material is a winner in my book. I wear it rock climbing, which is hard use, and no rips or holes. I've taken a single pair of these rock climbing atleast 100 times without issues. They've survived sliding down a 45 degree scree slope to escape a lightning storm, they've survived climbing steep 60 degree snow slopes, and they're still looking good enough to wear around town. Hands down the number one casual hiking pants out there! Rarely am I passionate enough about clothing to rate it this high.
