    Good hiking pants, poor stitching.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Large

I have ordered four pairs of these pants for myself and my son.
We have both worn them for weekend hikes and a week long hike this summer. He and I compared notes and we both discovered the stitching in pockets are coming apart. The side pocket on the right leg completely separated on my pants and both pairs he wears have holes in the back pocket stitching. Besides this very important issue, the pants are nice, durable and comfortable.

    Great at what they do

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 32

These Columbia pants will do exactly what you want them to. They are lightweight but durable, and easy to adapt to the current temperature. I continue to recommend these year after year.

    Great pants!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Sizing is accurate (waist

This my 3rd pair of Columbia convertible pants (no, I don't work for the company). They're easy on/off, light, and comfortable. I would prefer if they had a snap-off waist button but I'm getting picky. Only potential con is that the light colours (e.g. fossil) become somewhat see-through when wet - I accidentally discovered this feature during a deluge and showed the world my black underwear.

    Great Pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I bought these for my dad. He absolutely loves them. He loves the lightweight and transforming into shorts. He hasn't had them long enough to have seam issues. I hope that isn't the case. I have purchased to pair of columbia pants for him now, because he likes the way they fit and they are light weight.

My all-time favorites for warm weather

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32x32

I've owned hiking pants from other brands (including some of the biggest brands out there) and these ones (actually, an older version of these same pants) are my all-time favorites for warm weather hiking.
They are comfortable, a tiny little stretchy allowing for freedom of movement, dry really fast.
They have been with me on virtually every single one of my warm weather hiking/trekking outings, as well as when traveling and they are perfect for backpacking trips (really light and packs small in your backpack). I put them through HEAVY use and even so they lasted seven years! I just purchased another pair few days ago, but this time on an outlet mall (sorry backcountry... they were on sale).
    Overall, a great product.

    Perfect Summer/Fall Pants

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

I gave these as a gift to my dad and he loves them. Perfect go to pant for all of his activities. Light weight, breathable, comfortable, and durable. He said that these fit very true to size so I will take his word on it. Overall I would recommend these as they have worked out well for him.

Great for hot and humid conditions

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32W-30L

I have 5 pairs of these (3 are older versions). These are a life saver in very hot an humid conditions. I am currently working in the Middle East and wear these every day. I usually wear the shorts to transit to and from work, and the pants for work. I have used these hiking since 2008 and have not yet had a failure with them yet. I highly recommend.

    All Day Comfort

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 32 x 34

I have taken these out primarily mountain biking and hiking this Spring and have found them to be unbelievably breathable. The Omni-Wick technology seems to work just as well as Omni-Heat and Omni-Shield! Having many pockets is also a plus for me as I like to carry a lot of odds and ends as I go. I have yet to have the issues that many others have had with the pants in terms of pockets and seams, thus I will update if there are any durability problems moving forward. Overall, the pants are incredibly comfortable to wear, even when it is unbearably hot out, and the option of zipping off the pants at the knees makes them even more versatile! Check them out!

    Disappointing

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I actually loved these pants. They fit great, were super comfortable, were very breathable, and I liked the way they looked. I bought two pairs. The stitching in the crotch of the first pair popped during a climb and now there's a 4 inch hole. On the second pair, the stitching on one of the pockets came undone and now there's a large hole in the pocket. Overall, I would say these are incredibly comfortable, but lacking in durability.

    Low Quality Overall

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

After three light weekend backpacks these pants are falling apart. The seam stitching quality is appalling - some places, like the back pocket, stitching was missed entirely with a nice factory gap in the pocket for keys to fall through, other places, it is raggedy and uneven. Material wrinkles after washing and even air drying does not help. The convertable pantlet zippers are already starting to fail, and very difficult to get started. Should have returned these Columbia Silver Ridge Pants. Columbia products used to be great. What happened? (01/12/15)

    The Seems Need Some Work...

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

...well, actually, the seems need a lot of work. It's taken me a few months to write a review, but long story short, I strongly advise considering different pants with better quality material.

Yes, these pants are lightweight and comfortable, but I lost my cell phone and almost my wallet due to the seems and material ripping within the pockets.

Issue 1: The mesh within the back pocket ripped, allowing my wallet fall down my pants. The plus side is that its hard not to notice a wallet sliding down your leg, so that the wallet wasn't lost.

Issue 2: The seem on the left cargo pocket tore while holding my cell phone. As a result, I lost my cell phone somewhere along the snowy and brushy trail.

    Great pair of pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Just did a 9 day backpack trip to Glacier Nat Park in Sept. 4 days were deep in in near the border in the Belly River Valley. Weather was tough, day before we hiked in a foot of snow hit area. Lows in 20's and highs upper 30's. Was a muddy greasy mess. Had a pair of cheap Frogg Togg rain pants over then (got too close to fire and melted these but will get another pair). Came out and hiked Many Glacier and Logan Pass areas in 60-70 degree weather. Got this pair and the gravel. LOVED them. Worked get in both extremes. Very comfortable!

    Great hiking pant

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

35 miles pack packing in the Wind Rivers Range, Wyoming. Used two pair and washed them in the lakes. Very comfortable and tough. Bush whacked through dense forest and didn't tear or snag.

    True to size.

    Love these convertibles

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I am a woman, however I'd had trouble finding women's convertible pant that wasn't terribly unflattering and uncomfortable. Until I tried these that my boyfriend has. They do run small, order a size up. These pants are awesome though. I want a zillion pairs of these. They are comfortable and brilliant for backpacking.

    Strange fit

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small

I ordered these in my normal pant size of 36, which usually wears a little loose on me. The pants were too tight, so I sent them back and ordered 38's. The 38 was ok around the waist, but strangely "form-fitting" and left little to the imagination. I really like the material and pockets, but I'm sending them back again and looking at another style. I would recommend them to anyone with a small frame, but they're just not for me.

    Comfort/cut = great. Color names = ?

Color is deceiving, but style and comfort is not. I purchased a pair of these pants after I already owned two of kaki colored pair. I purchased a pair of gravel pair from BC. Once arrived, Columbia apparently decided gravel is the color of a dark green or olive. I kept them, but tried to purchase a pair of grill color of the same style and couldn't because BC was sold out. I could though find a pair on Amazon sold by BC, but not available for APO AE shipping. They are in fact a great style and comfort and they are not as baggy as other Company's styles. Would I order them again? Definitely. Does Columbia need to re-do the pictures, description, yes.? Would I recommend them to someone else, yes. Just pay attention to color choices. Also, a sad note: I surveyed over 25 people and not one said gravel was green. They all said grey. Just a note for Columbia not BC. Oh as said, I have a total of four pair of these now - different color's. They dry great, easy to clean (recommend air dry), and depending on packing style, wrinkles come out quickly. This is easily a better comfort (and cost) then other brands (just my opinion). I've taken this out camping, day hiking, and on overseas travel. For a person that says they are a 30W32L this will fit with wiggle room depending on your... hydration. As said, buy the right color and size and it will meet your needs.
