Columbia Schooner Bank 2 Cachalot Hat - 2009 BCS

I bought this on behalf of my Dad. He bought a pricier hearing aid, and wanted protection in the rain. He purchased a bucket hat and this hat. Thus the ear covering. Looks nice, however, he gets alot of feedback from his hearing aid, thus it is difficult for him to wear it. Affects hearing aid functioning.

I sunburn easily, and this hat protects my head and neck perfectly, which means less sunscreen use. I wanted it specifically for kayaking our local lake, which offers little shade. The fabric is lightweight, and allows the crown area to remain surprisingly cool, even while covered. The generous brim cuts glare, and the back flap hides my ears and neck from potential sunburn. A great added feature is the little clip that prevents the hat from being blown away and lost -- much-needed on the water.
Although the product information lists the UPF rating of the fabric as 30, the item tag actually gives the sun protection as UPF 50, so Backcountry is underrating their product.
I couldn't be more pleased, and would gladly recommend this hat to anyone who spends time in the outdoors.

Bought this hat for my husband who had skin cancer on his face. He loves it. It's lightweight and comfortable; not hot like some of the other hats he was wearing. He lost his first one so I immediately bought another. Covers great and it looks great on.
