When arctic temps and blowing snow send everyone else running for the lodge, you’ll be cozily schussing along while wearing your Columbia Women’s Purring Tiger Down Jacket. Columbia encased the insulating down in its 5K-rated waterproof breathable fabric to help ensure the down doesn’t get soaked and useless. A powder skirt seals out moisture when you ride through a few feet of freshly fallen snow. Should the weather improve, you can zip off the hood and open the underarm vents to get air flowing. Plenty of pockets hold on-hill essentials. Removable faux fur on the hood, quilting stitches, and the exterior print give this jacket style for the city, too.

it was originally paired with the Enigma, Divine, Retro and Surreal... you may still find some of those. Of course, that texture on the jacket will look good with a solid color and muted texture pant

I was impressed with others' comments on this parka, and looked forward to wearing it here in NW Vermont this winter. But when it came and I tried it on, it was so narrowly cut I couldn't even zip it up.
I'm only about 110 pounds, so the problem was not me!
Am sending it back.
As in heavy jacket to keep you warm? If so then yes. It has 550 down fill in it and great insulation. You'll keep plenty warm.
Heavy as in weight heavy? It's hard to know exactly what you consider "heavy" but I would say no. It's not annoyingly heavy that it'll be noticeable when you wear it.

This jacket rocks in cold weather. In gusty, very cold conditions I barely notice while my friends are shivering. I love putting my hands in the pockets... the pockets are soft. I also really enjoy the underarm vents that I can zip or unzip as necessary - keeps my from getting stinky under all that very effective, but surprisingly lightweight insulation. This jacket is a winner, plus it looks great!

I agree.. this jacket is great and keeps me warm. I also bought it to wear while walking my dog in the cold weather. It so warm and fashionable. You can look good and still be warm and toasty.

Depends on how you like your jackets to fit! I would suggest going up a size to allow for layering if needed.

Bought the Jacket for my wife. She loved it but was the wrong size so it had to be returned. The only bad thing is that they do not have other sizes for it so I had to look for the jacket somewhere else. Besides that great service and I'll keep my business with Backcountry.com

I walk alot and up here in Toronto our winters are cold... freezing. I have worn this jacket every day since I bought it for dog walking. I am outside for several hours a day in this jacket, it is toasty warm, easy to move around in, stylish. Breathable fabric too! I love this lightweight jacket.

I bought this jacket so I'd be able to do some outdoors stuff with my boyfriend while visiting him in Minnesota. It kept me warm through full days of skiing, sledding, and skating, all while the weather was below zero! Very impressive.
