Maybe the removable plaid fleece liner has something to do with why Columbia named this Men’s jacket the Psycho Cowboy II Parka. But this jacket sure won’t make you feel like a touron when the weather changes, or leave you shivering from the cold and wet when you’re caught in a winter snow storm. The shell on this parka has fully taped seams and 10K-rated waterproof fabric, and the fleece liner adds warmth when you need it and is removable for spring days. This Columbia jacket’s zip-off hood reduces bulk on dry days, and the powder skirt blocks snow during your waist-deep runs.
Bottom Line: Ride out the storm with the Psycho Cowboy.
I have just bought this jacket, and want to source matching ski pants / salopettes (as we call them in Europe). I'm having problems in finding out what the matching ski pants are online. Does anyone know or have a link ?
Hey Peter,They sure do ship to Canada. In case you've never ordered from them, their return policy is a "no questions asked" guarantee. If you're EVER not satisfied with the item you can return it for a full refund or exchange......anytime.Hope that helps.---------------------I'd just like to point out that Backcountry doesn't sell anything bigger than XL, so you'll have to buy directly from Columbia. In which case the return policy is moot.
As the center of gear knowledge, Backcountry.com wants you to be as informed as possible when buying high-end gear, and we've compiled price listings from some other reputable retailers for you to compare. Bought this jacket last year (Cowboy I?). Great fit (I wear an XL shirt, but got the XXL jacket). The liner is wicked and fits perfectly, not too loose, and looks great on its own. The pockets are plenty, but not too bulky. Very happy with it and am looking forward to winter.
For the money it is hard to beat this jacket. The materials and construction seem as bombproof as the more expensive brands. Its style is unique too - not a faux mountaineering look, not a snowboarder look nor a "hey I'm a racer" look - instead it has an elegant western design with some subtle elements like rivets and gussets (hey I live in cowboy country).
Even with the above I can't give it 5 stars due to a few design missteps that you would think a company like Columbia would have gotten right, like: 1)The liner is so long that accessing and using the powder skirt is very difficult. 2)The inside of the shell has two open mesh pockets and no zippered pockets - one mesh pocket is plenty (not sure what two could be used for since this is not a backcountry jacket that be used for stowing skins), while the lack of a zippered pocket is a glaring exclusion. 3) There are four zippered or velcroed pockets on the outside of the liner, which makes them difficult to access when zipped into the jacket. The two pockets inside the liner are small, open and mesh - not sure what you'd use these for. The liner needs one or two more secure pockets on the inside.
Bought the only Black Medium jacket available. Not very many of them out there. It fits me well and runs true to size. Extremely warm (held up well in 4 degree F). Jacket is pretty heavy.
Bought this for my son & one for his friend. they are in Tahoe and love the non bulky aspect and the wonderful warmth. the versatility is great for cold mornings and warmer afternoons. I scored!!!!
