Columbia's Men's Piste Basher takes care of you whether you're snowboarding at the resort or skiing the backcountry. The two-way stretch Omni-Tech waterproof breathable fabric won't bind or restrict your movement while you hike to get the powdery goods. The Piste Basher also has light insulation to keep you from freezing on a windy lift ride. You're in good shape either way, so maybe you should start at the resort and duck the ropes.

Comfy but Not Durable

Feel great in powder. Comfortable, flexible, and just the right warmth. The outside fabric is light, stretchy, and has a rubber-like feel to it; but it's just not that durable. Mine were starting to tear and seams were beginning to unravel after 10 to 15 days. After 35 days they have suffored catostraphic seam failure on the outside knee. These pants are not recommended for people who ride hard or above their ability level, make contact with tree branches, or crash/wipeout/yardsale regularly.

Highly recommended for most people who only ski a few days a year.

i need 34" waist by 30" length will the mediums work?

They should fit you ok in the waist but they might be a bit long as they are 32 inch inseam.

Too Bulky

So I don't think this is necessarily a complaint about the pants. They just turned out to be a lot bulkier than they appeared in the picture.

I returned them. What's great of course about Backcountry is how easy they make returns :-)

Would these be good for serious back country telemarking in Colorado? (for my 16yr old son on a school trip, previous experience
in the Catskills temp 0F wearing " black dot" was fine but he's out
grown them. I can't afford expensive pants. ) Thanks

these will stand up to use as well as abuse. the articulation of a tele skier will benefit from the cut and fabric mobility of this garment. this is insulated slightly, making it easier to up-size and not create too much space to warm. that will also extend the wear time before the next growth spurt

Got a tall dude I am buying this pants for, 6'5". Are these long enough?

these have a 32" inseam... What is Tall Dude's inseam? I would imagine at least a 34".
