Three is the magic number, especially if you're counting layer options during the winter. Zip up in the Columbia Women's Parallel Peak Jacket in one of three ways—shell, liner or both together—depending on your activity or how cold and wet the weather is. The outer shell is made from Columbia's Omni-Tech 20K-rated fabric and is fully seam sealed to keep out heavy snow and even rain, and it features 100g polyester insulation (50% recycled) to trap warmth. The low-profile inner jacket holds its own, too. It can shed the wet stuff because of the Omni-Shield DWR coating, and the Omni-Heat Thermal Reflective lining sends escaping heat right back to your body where you need it, to keep you cozy when the activity takes a lull.

When you need the most out of this jacket, zip the outer and inner jackets together with the zip-in and three-point interchange system. Now with their forces combined, take note of all of the features. An adjustable, snap back powder skirt will keep out the powder when you are in deep. Articulated sleeves make for dexterity when you're actually skiing, and the drawcord hem and adjustable cuffs with wrist gaiters and thumb loops let you wear the jacket how you want, anytime. Underarm vents and the removable, adjustable storm hood let you regulate your body temperature. And there's plenty of space for stowing goodies and keeping organized with the hand warmer pockets, a security pocket, a media/goggle pocket, and a ski pass pocket.

Great Ski Jacket

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:Runs small

Enjoyed using this everyday. Has lots of pockets which made it great. It was EXTREMELY warm with both layers together. We skied in 15 degree weather at night and it was too warm. Was great however when out for a stroll in the village. It does run a little small, I purchased the XL and had plenty of room. I am size 10-12 in street clothes if that helps. I like the length because it covers the bum when sitting on cold ski lifts. Overall love the jacket and can't wait to wear it again!

Great jacket

  • Fit:True to size

I helped my brother pick this out for his wife and she is very happy with it. She uses it for snowmobiling and casual days outside during the winter. The removable liner is a great feature and all parts of the jacket look really good. It's proved durable and reliably warm.

Nice jacket, poor fit for me

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
  • Fit:Runs small

I bought this jacket in a medium based on the size chart. A size 8 is usually pretty roomy on me. I loved the features and the color (I got the riptide lumberjack plaid) but the jacket was pretty snug, and the armpits felt like they would cut the circulation off in my arms. The sleeves were plenty long, and I have fairly long arms. I returned the coat and got a large, but the sleeves covered up my hands and it was really big across my shoulders and upper arms, and the hood was so tight over my ski helmet that it was difficult to turn my head, even when I had the hood as loose as it would go. I primarily wanted a jacket for skiing. I was really sorry this coat didn't fit my body because I get cold easily, and it seemed like it would be really warm and had nice features.

Is the hood ski-helmet compatible?

Is the hood ski-helmet compatible?

The hood will fit over most helmets on the market. Also this jacket does tend to run a little small compared to most Columbia jackets, so you might want to size up especially if you plan to wear a few layers under it.
