Your girl is asking what she should wear snowshoeing, and of course you’re in the middle of doing fifty other things. Just tell her to bring her Columbia Girls’ Nordic Babe Parka. This way she has a weather-resistant shell for flurries and a zip-out fleece liner in case it gets sunny.
Not wind resistant, at least anything that's certified, the liner and the shell are really versatile and effective against cold wind though. It is water-resistant as well, using Columbia's Omni-Shield® technology. My work is done here.
My daughter got this jacket for an upcoming ski trip so we don't know how it performs in those conditions yet but she already loves wearing both the zip out liner and the jacket to school and other places. It fits great and we are very satisfied with the quality.

I got this jacket for my 10 yr. old for Christmas and she loves it. We went skiing right after Christmas and the jacket kept her warm and dry. She really likes the zip-out hoodie liner. I think this jacket is a great pick!
Got my daughter the Columbia Nordic Babe Jacket in "Punk" to match the snow pants in "Punk Plaid" Looks so nice together! And best of all they keep her warm and dry! Thanks Backcountry.com
My daughter is 5'1", 112 lbs, small framed. She can wear women size small coats, but I was wondering what size I would order if I was to purchase this one?
My, almost 13 year old daughter, is 5'1" and weighs 90 - 95 lbs. I bought this coat for her from REI at Christmas time in a childrens size XL. At the same time that I purchased this coat I purchased a womens size XS coat in another more fitted style. They both fit. However, I did notice that the sleeves on the womens coat were longer. This parka is very roomy on my daughter but perfect for lots of layering. I believe it will fit her for a couple of years. She loves the pattern and wears it quite often, mostly as a rain parka, but has worn it for skiing and snowboarding with the liner. It kept her warm and dry. She's a fashionista so for her to wear it is a huge thumbs up!
she may fall between the 14/16 and the 18/20... what may help is the consideration of the sleeve length. Obviously, the 18/20 will give her more rooom to throw her arms around
We got our 7 year old daughter one of these. She is pretty picky about stuff, but she really likes this jacket so far. Spent most of the fall just wearing the fleece, which is nice since it has a hood. The shell is well made and I can see her wearing this for the next two years easy, unless she gets into the whole human growth hormone thing. She is about 4 feet tall and about 53 lbs (real lean) - size 7/8 is a little on the large side for now. We'll see - today is the first day she has worn it as a parka - shell + fleece. Solid, quality zippers, materials, and build. Downers: The fleece hood should have some sort of fastening to the shell hood and the fleece in general is almost too big for the shell. I could see her getting worked up about the "it's crooked" aspect.
