Mt.Haines Down Jacket - Men's

The Columbia Men’s Mt. Haines Down Jacket is trim enough to fit under a shell when skiing on very cold East Coast days and plenty warm as your go-to winter coat. The bulkiness of some down jackets leaves you walking around with arms straight out like a parody of the Michelin Man, but the Mt. Haines Down Jacket is trim and streamlined.

  • Omni-Shield water repellency to seal out snowflakes or raindrops if you get caught in a storm
  • Drawcord at the hem keeps out drafts
  • Zip-closed pockets keep expensive electronics, keys, and wallets secure
  • Extremely packable for backcountry jaunts

Bottom Line: A trim and streamlined puffy.

This can be layered with the Blade Run Shell piece, but there are no connection pieces or a compatible zipper

Great Jacket!!

I love this Jacket! It has many pockets, as well as an outside zipper that provides access to an inner pocket up top so you don't have to unzip your coat to access it. Only wore in lower teen temps but plenty warm. Looks great! Great cut! A couple of small feathers have come out but I think that's normal with a down coat. Not Big and puffy at all and it's easy to move in. It has the cinch cord at the bottom to keep the wind out which is nice and makes it feel like it fits a little better as well. I'd but this coat again!

The blend is 90% goose and 10% duck, a standard much higher than soem of those other brands. this also has OmniShield-- a proprietary DWR treatment that is more effective and more resilient against water and stains

It is 550-fill down, which is a moderately well-insulating down, probably a blend of goose and duck. The fill rating is a measure of insulation effectiveness per weight, so the higher the fill power the greater the insulation at the same weight of down. If you wanted warmer with a similar weight jacket, get a fill that has a higher rating.

This is actually pretty inexpensive compared with other brands. TNF, MHW, Patagonia, etc., would all be close to twice this much, but the down would be a higher rating and the overall construction higher-quality.
