With the sheer versatility of the Columbia Women's Mighty lite III Vest, you'll find yourself reaching for it AT LEAST 239 days a year. That's because it's tough enough to be an outer layer and bulk-less enough to be a midlayer: warm enough for skiing and stylish enough to hit the town. Omni-Shield keeps the weather out and Omni-Heat keeps the warmth in. With all those Omnis, how could it not be comfortable?

  • Omni-Shield resists all liquids below 170 degrees Fahrenheit to keep you dry and clothes from becoming stained
  • Omni-Shield fabrics dry 3 to 5 times faster than untreated fabrics
  • Omni-Heat reflective liner reflects heat back in toward your body while allowing excess heat and moisture to escape
  • Drawcord-adjustable hem stops drafts from cooling your torso
  • Interior security pocket keeps valuables safe
  • Zippered pockets keep your stuff inside, even when skiing, and keep cold air from entering

Here's what others have to say...

Runs large but awesome warmth/weight

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:Runs large

Bought this vest based on other good reviews and because I have a base layer with the same Omni Heat technology that works amazingly. This vest does, too. I wore it this morning running about 6M in low 20s with wind chills in the low teens, with just a merino wool baselayer underneath. Got the aqua/green and love it (being visible is a good thing on country roads!). Only bummer is that it's pretty large and boxy on me. I especially like my active wear fitted to keep out cold and not catch wind. I bought true to size (medium), saw the great photos posted here of someone wearing it, thought I was a curvy/normal gal but guess I am less curvy than I thought. Vest is very big in the chest (and has darts - augh) and waist. All that's fine if you want to really layer underneath but not so great if you don't - wind gets in, vest moves around a bit. Still, a great vest. (Would exchange it for small but already wore it and would have to pay for shipping - a major bummer with Backcountry purchases.)

Columbia MIghty Lite III Vest

  • Fit:True to size
  • Height: 5'5"
    Weight: 123 lbs
    Size Purchased: S

The fit of this vest is great. It is a very good length where many are too short. However, the color was not even close to what I expected. It says Hibiscus Red and the actual color is Neon Orange--great for hunting, obnoxious for daily wear. My biggest beef is that unlike most other outdoor gear sites I purchase from, I need to pay return shipping when the item was clearly not as advertised. Take a cue from LL Bean, Backcountry. I will hesitate before buying from you again.

The only vest you need

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

I'm a vest girl. It's just a fact. I've got big puffy vests and polar fleece vests and wind breaking vests, but I didn't have this vest. And now I do. And now I am complete.

This vest does everything I need. It keeps me warm (duh) but warmer than my other vests without the added bulk due to the heat reflecting Omni-Heat (and its blingin'). I can layer over and under it due to the slim fit. I love love the high neck, its such a great feature and I love how with the thinness of the vest it isnt uncomfortable or hard to fold down when you don't need the full height of the neck. It also comes down nice and low on the butt covering the critical kidneys. The pockets are fleece lined for my whimpy hands and zippered to keep trinkets in. Then theres the detailing! I've never felt so chic rocking a vest! I got basic/classic black and couldn't be happier. I'm 5'3 120lbs and the small fits well for layering. If I wanted it just for going underneath other coats I could have gone XS. The S is still a great fit though!

so versatile!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

Its low volume, it has a slimming cut, I like the longer length. It can be worn under a jacket to add warmth with very little bulk, I've worn it under crochet vests and It works well, perfect for spring skiing and bike riding with just a warm long sleeved base layer on.

love it!

very warm and light, works well under a jacket or over a jacket.

beware the green is a very bright color!
