Just because softshell’s are smooth, stretchy, and super breathable doesn’t mean they have to be soft on weather protection. The Columbia Men’s Luster Softshell Jacket features Columbia’s highest waterproof breathability rating. Fully taped seams cap off this jacket’s impenetrability.

  • Fully sealed seams stop water from leaking through the stitching
  • Large underarm zippers provide ventilation when needed
  • Adjustable, stowable powder skirt blocks snow at the waist
  • Two-way stretch makes jacket flexible for alpine mobility
  • Tricot lining traps warmth and wicks moisture.

Bottom Line: The Columbia Luster: a hard-ass softshell.

Hey - Just wondering what size I should get.

I am 6' and weigh 220lbs - athletic build - broader shoulders.

I am debating what size to get an XL or XXL in this coat. I want it a little longer - but am worried if I go for the XXL it will just be fatter - and not necessarily longer...

Any insight?

David,

The good news is: no matter which jacket you choose, BC.com has amazing customer service and you can send it back if it doesn't fit in exchange for the one that does. As for which size, I tend to size up on shells anyway because I like to layer underneath them, so go up from what your normal T-shirt size is.

Happy trails!

to address the sizing,... I am 6'1" and 200lbs... i am terribly long-waisted and fit a Large with ease. It is a generous cut, and, with no lining it was built for low-profile layering if you need it.

Jay,

This jacket is not insulated but I believe it has a thin fleece lining through most of it for comfortability.
