Columbia's Men's Lhotse Parka is ideal for wet climates and activities where you can't just run inside when it decides to snow or rain. The 100% nylon shell is fully seam taped and built with Omni-Tech, Columbia's proprietary multi-layer waterproof system. A removable hood and snap-back powder skirt add a level of protection and versatility. The liner is made with Earth-friendly 50% recycled polyester, and still provides insulation when wet.

Bottom Line: Brave the rain, wind, and snow.

Is this coat and the Men's Lhotse Mountain™ II Parka

Is this coat and the Men's Lhotse Mountain™ II Parka the same thing? Basically, I am wondering if this parka has the Omni-heat Technology?

Could you please measure the length of the chest, waist and hip of the inner and outer jacket for large size. I can see them at the right corner of the page but in some reviews it is said that the sizes are narrow.

... and the "narrow" mention is probably due to bulky layering the gathers under the arm.

Shweetness

I'm 5'11 and 170 pounds the medium is a perfect fit. The coat is everything it is cracked up to be. It works great in the wind, rain, and the freezing cold. I was out in -17 degree weather yesterday and my core stayed super warm. People say that the zipper on this coat gets stuck alot, but I haven't had that problem yet.

Great Q&A-Looking at a Mens Bugaboo OR a Lhoste, both by

Great Q&A-Looking at a Mens Bugaboo OR a Lhoste, both by Columbia. Which has the most pockets, big and small ? How many pockets? Which jacket has a cinch cord at the bottom to tighten up to stop drafts ? Do either jacket have the armpit zip vents ?

The short answer? Get the Lhotse. It has two exterior stuff pox, one on the chest and a few on the inside of the shell. the liner is the new OmniHeat puffy with both OH insualtion and reflective detail. The shell has a powder skirt and they both draw tight at the bottom. The Lhotse has pit zips on the shell element.

The Bugaboo has more pox on the shell and no pit zips. the lining is also Fleece with a drawcord. There is no powder skirt on the Bugaboo

I am looking for a new ski jacket that will keep me warm on the coldest of days and dry in the nastiest of conditions. My previous Columbia served me well during many trips to VT, CO, and the Swiss Alps. My price point is around $250. I have looked at some North Face and Spyders, but they seem overpriced for what they provide. This jacket looks well suited for my needs, but I would welcome any advice given the requirements I provided.

this is a great jacket that will offer you more than those other jackets at $250 an up. First of all, this is a component jacket. the liner can be worn alone, and it touts OmniShield water repelancy, OmniHeat Reflective lining, and Omni Heat insulation. The OmniHeat story is that of the most efficient insualtion and temperature management available. The shell uses OmniTech-- one of the most breathable, waterproof membranes out there-- and that will blow the doors off the industry dinosaur. The shell can be used as an uninsulated, waterproof shell, or zip it all together for a globe-trotting outer garment that is unparalleled.

this is an awesome jacket for beginners and those who are constantly looking for value. I own it and love and for the life of me could not find a better jacket for the money. its super warm and pretty dang waterproof. If your looking for something impenetrable your gonna have to drop about twice as much cash. and it has great pockets and fit. at 5'10" 160, wearing a medium, im a pretty slender guy. keep that in mind when buying

you have a good eye. The pocket does hav ea long zipper for depth, and it can be too big for just a hand and wrist going in. I will say that the pocket is not mesh and it will not vent body heat, and the jacket is otherwise quite warm and versatile.

This is seam-sealed, and 10,000mm waterproof. That's resistant to 10m of direct water pressure! OmniTech is arguably one of the most breathable membranes available, and this also touts the latest in heat management -- OmniHeat. Having access to the entire lineup, a single choice for a jacket that has components to cover 3 season's worth of conditions would certainly be the Lhotse Mountain.

Jang, this jacket is going to be pretty darn waterproof, though it is not gore. this means it wont stand up to all day downpours, though i doubt that is what you are looking for. if you need a jacket for left access skiing then this will be just fine. the reason i say lift access is that this wont be very breathable when it comes to skinning or long treks up the mtn. i would like to suggest however that you look at a jacket like the marmot Morzine. it will be a little better quality than the Columbia and will provide just as much waterproofing as well as better breath ability. the only difference is that it isnt seam sealed. though if you need this for what i imagine you do that wont be an issue.

They got cheap on the zipper

By:
December 21, 2010

Loved the coat except for the zipper that kept getting stuck, which was a deal breaker, so I had to return it. It seemed like a design/part problem versus a unique fluke. It's a shame because I liked this coat otherwise. Very shortsighted decision to save a couple pennies on the zipper and ruin the $200 coat.

Mike's link is for an '09 model, with the fleece liner and no OmniHeat. There is a huge difference in technology with that model and this one. A jump in price like is --what I would bet to be-- a pricing error caught and corrected

does anyone know any of the following... does this version have the new omni-heat and omni-shield on the liner or is this an older version? What is the waterproof rating (in mm) OR is this jacket fairly waterproof compared to other brands?

This is the latest model. This has OmniHeat lining and insulation on the inner component, Omni shield on the outside of the inner piece, and Omni Tech (breathable waterproof) in the outer shell. It is every bit as waterproof as other WB membranes and OmniTech will breath better than the biggest names and products of other companies.

This is a lot of jacket for not a lot of money at all.

Nice jacket, good combo, but too snug

By:
November 22, 2010

Ordered the medium size ( I am 5'6" and 155lbs, 32" waist) and it fit well in the back and shoulders with the liner inside...but unable to wear anything but a t-shirt underneath. But the turn-off was the fit at the waist was just too snug.
Otherwise jacket was well put together and the liner was toasty warm. Just unable to make it happen. Returned it and researching something else.

Not fleece at all. The shell is nylon and the liner is a synthetic puffy style jacket- this is polyester, but does not have the brushed texture of fleece.
