I have two pairs of these Lander shorts. Once again, I've been astonished by how comfortable these shorts are. Comfortable enough for all day hiking, but durable enough for some impromptu climbing.

These are quality shorts. No issues here. True to size and the longer inseam give them a laid-back look.

Yes, it's separate. It's a zippered slash pocket just behind the standard slash pocket on the front right side of the shorts.

Just like so many Columbia products, the sizing totally varies. I ordered two of these shorts (Fossil and Tundra) in the same size; one color fit, the other did not. Same problem with the pants I ordered. Columbia makes some nice gear, too bad you never know whether or not something will fit.

Overall I am very pleased with this short. The security pocket behind the right hip pocket has been useful several times, they're very comfortable, and I love the fabric. My only complaints are the unsecurity of the back pockets (no butons or clasps) and the unmentioned right thigh pocket, which is hardly useful and kind of tacky just from a appearance standpoint.

Wore these shorts about 10 times before small holes started appearing in the thigh region. Bummer too because they fit really well.

Like the softness of the fabric and the gusset crotch, however they are not as comfortable in the crotch as the Columbia Lander Pants are. Those pants are great in fitting.
