Columbia treated the already waterproof Women's Kona Rain Jacket with a long-lasting DWR finish to ensure that you stay dry as you hike through the Hawaiian rain forest. They also made the Kona in part with high-grade recycled materials to help out a little with taking care of the planet. When you're not using it, stuff this Columbia shell into its own internal pouch.
Basic rain coat that does the job. It's light weight and can be folded up in a ball and carried along. I ordered the one in red and it's a lovely shade, definitely going to stand out in the forest. The pocket placement is perfect and the hood is a great shape, doing it's job at keeping your head and face dry.

I just got mine yesterday & sent it back today to exchange for a larger size before waiting to try it out in the rain. I wear a women's large & that size always fits. However ,this jacket gets narrower toward the bottom & fits too snug in the hips because I have wide hip bones. I've seen other reviews saying the same thing. If you're built straight up & down with a narrow pelvis like some junior figures, your regular size should fit but if you're a woman with a large frame & wide hip bones or a pear shape you just might have to order the next larger size.Women who are top heavy may also have to do the same thing.. I like for a rain jacket to have more flare at the bottom & if the extra large doesn't fit right,I'm gonna send it back & forget the whole thing, which will be a shame since I've heard such glowing reviews
I loved this jacket. We spent a week hiking the jungle in Belize and it rained some everyday and I stayed completely dry, and didn't get too hot when I was all zipped up. Loved the color, too.
We've had a ton of rainy days lately, and this jacket has been sorely needed. It keeps me dry and it's flattering for a rain jacket (which isn't always the case). The only thing to keep in mind is that where it falls on the hip runs a bit small. I usually take a medium in shirts, I ordered a medium in the jacket and while it fits perfectly in the top, it's a tiny bit snug at the bottom.
I still have no "complaints", though. It's a fantastic jacket!
For the most part, I am pleased with the Kona Rain Jacket; light, packable, keeps the moisture out.. I would have preferred a slight flare at the bottom, it fits a little too snug. For a XL, this should not be the case.
Um...sorry to point this out, but Kona is on the dry side of the island. Try the "Columbia Hilo Rain Jacket" if you need a Hawaiian-themed name. Naturally you'd stay dry as a bone in Kona, because it virtually never rains there.
I really love this jacket, however...it is not waterproof like it says. I used it for snowshoeing over my sweater because it is light weight and packable. It rained during our hike and I got soaked. I am dissapointed because the description says it will withstand a rainforest. I would only recommend this for light rain, not a rainforest! - I am going to try to return this item..
