Good news for you. Bad news for wind, cold, and light rain.

The Columbia Men's Key Three II Softshell Jacket is no friend of the wind, cold, and rain. As a matter of fact, it's a card-carrying member of Columbia's Omni-Wind Block, Omni-Heat, and Omni-Shield technology club, which means that wind, cold, and light rain practically despise it.

  • Two-way comfort stretch softshell fabric provides unrestricted movement
  • Omni-Wind Block tech prevents gusts of wind from penetrating the shell and chilling you to the bone
  • Omni-Heat thermal reflective liner material reflects infrared energy back towards your body for increased warmth retention
  • Omni-Shield water-resistant coating encourages light rain and melting snow to bead up on the fabric surface instead of seeping in
  • Drawcord hem and comfort cuffs help prevent drafts
  • Abrasion-resistant chin guard protects your three-day beard from getting tangled in the tracks

Ridiculously good wind blocking

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great windbreaker. It has a nice slim fitting and a cool style to it. The amount of wind breaking it does really surprised me a few times. For warmth, it does well in cool weather; but when it gets colder, you'll need to add some layers under it.

Fitted - Cut for a slimmer guy

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift

Hi all, I bought this jacket in Medium for my boyfriend for Christmas. He is 5'10", 175. The jacket itself is great, exactly what he was looking for (wind shell). The length and arm length were good, but the torso was a little too snug to be comfortable. I returned only because the cut of the jacket would have suited a little bit of a slimmer guy, so keep in mind how you want this to fit before purchasing. Aside from that, the quality of the jacket was great!

Excellent Coat

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

works very well in weather in the 30s and 40s, provides effective protection from the wind of a Michigan winter, the reflective lining inside the coat is very shiny, like foil, and a couple people have teased about the "glitter," but it performs as advertised--keeps wearer remarkably warm given the lightness of the coat. I purchased XXL Ebony Blue, I am 6'2", 230lbs.

Great Jacket!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This jacket is by far one of the best jackets I have ever owned. It keeps you extremely warm when you are moving around and even when you are not. The Titanium technology works like a charm and its even warm used as a blanket instead of a jacket ;). It fits true to size and fits in a slim fit, so make sure you order the size you would normally wear. The water-shedding properties work like a charm and I wear this jacket whenever it looks like it is going to rain. Great quality jacket!

Great Jacket at 140 even better at 90

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

When I first got this jacket I noticed how much thicker it was than my Marmot soft shell. I liked how it fit, how it looked and the Omni heat stuff worked. I took it with me to work the next day with just a normal T shirt on. It was about 36 maybe 40 at times and I was really cold in this jacket! It blocked the wind and rain but I was still cold. After putting on some layers I felt a lot better.
I wasn?t doing much moving around at the time and it was a little cold for just a soft shell. I tried again today in little warmer temps (45ish) and it worked great. I was busy all day pulling ropes, walking around, and keeping my body heat up. The Omni heat really did the trick with just a T shirt on underneath it kept me warm but not to warm, dry in the PNW rain, and didn?t let any wind through. Today I really put it to the rain/wind test and it passed with flying colors!
I got an XL in the brown (I love the color), I have a big barrel chest, a small beer gut and I weigh in at around 230. The tail fits all the way down and the sleeves fit a little long which I like. The pockets are really warm and inviting.
I think the 1st time I used it, it was a little too cold for just a soft shell. The only down side to this jacket and my body type is that the armpits seem to ride a little high. After having it for 48 hours and wearing it all day to day I didn?t seem to notices as much. Don?t know if it stretched or just got use to it.
I think this jacket would be great for anyone who is looking for a really good all around soft shell. This jacket fits great and is true to the size, it looks good so you can wear it around town and on the trail.
