The Columbia Kaibab Hiking Shoe will take you from country roads to alpine scrambles and anywhere in between. You can walk for miles with the cushioned EVA footbed and midsole. The stable nylon shank adds support for rooty and rocky trails and flexes just enough to keep things comfortable. If you pick up the pace, the gusseted tongue will keep out tiny rocks that otherwise hitch a ride just to annoy you. When the trail gets steep and slick, the non-marking Omni-Grip rubber will help you stick to it with a tread pattern designed to increase forward traction.

Bottom Line: Follow your feet.

Surprisingly great hiking shoes.

I am impressed with these shoes. I have taken them through water, sand, rain, sandstone, and even some snow. They are pretty warm in cold weather, have amazing grip on the tread, and are fairly good for water crossings too. Sturdy construction (still in excellent condition after about 300+ miles).

Best hiker I own

I can't believe how impressed I am with these Columbia Kaibabs. I tried on a pair of Merrells, North Face, and even purchased a pair of Patagonia's . The Merrells were heavy, the North Face pinched my toes, and the Patagonia's gave me a blister on the back of my heel. My new Kaibab's are light, extremely comfortable (most comfy shoe I own), good looking, and very sturdy. The sole is grippy and awesome. The day after I bought them I went on a 10 mile hike through some pretty rough terrain. By the time I was done my feet felt great. The Kaibab's breathe extremely well and again they are so comfortable. When I got back they were completely filthy caked with mud and dirt. I rinsed them off with a spray hose and let them dry over night. They look totally brand new. By far my new favorite hiker. Goes to show that you don't have to spend a fortune to get a quality shoe.

Great lightweight trail shoe

By:

I bought these for an upcoming trip to Arizona for hiking around Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Never felt like I had to break them in, they just fit. Arches in other brands like The North Face and Merrell just sat too far back. Decent support from the mid length nylon shank but not anything that a full metal shank can deliver (if you are looking for that). Lots of breathable mesh for warm weather. Shoe plants flat and delivers good side to side support. No comments about durability yet but looks to be acceptable for my use. Order by European sizes. I am a 45 for most shoes, had to go up to a 46 for this one. That is a size 13 US compared to a typical 10.5-11 US for most shoes.

No, look for Columbia shoes with Omni-Tech for waterproof protection, like Columbia's Switchback Omni-Tech. Both are great shoes though just depends what you are looking for. Cheers

Great shoes

I got these for my boyfriend. He loved them from the second he saw them. After putting them on, even better. He has a wide foot and these fit him great. Didn't even feel like they needed a break-in period.
