Hydro Hog Short - Men's

Don't hide inside when the sun beats down. The Columbia Men's Hydro Hog Shorts live for the water, the rock, and the trail, and they'll fight off harmful UV rays to get there. These shorts feature UPF-50 rated fabric for defense against the sun when you're cliff-diving or rock-climbing. Columbia constructed the Hydro Hogs from a blend of nylon and elastane, which dries quickly after a dip in the lake and stretches to help you reach that next foothold. The mesh lining and wicking waistband move sweat away from your skin for comfort during a full day of desert exploration.

Bottom Line: You can't keep the Columbia Hydro Hog Shorts inside. So pull 'em on and hit the trail.

Great for hiking around in!

By:

Lightweight, roomy enough to stretch yet not baggy. I have yet to get out on the trail in them, but they have been wearing them for casual wear everyday since I received them - very comfy. The pocket locations get some getting used to for me, but that's not a negative assessment. (They orient 45 degrees towards the back of your thigh and barely big enough to hold a wallet. Need a fanny pack with these...)

I agree with the comment made on the November 12 posting about the lack of a drawstring or belt loops: I got mine to fit perfectly (XL) and they don't feel cramped or loose. If I lost 15 lbs, however, I'm not thinking that they would stay up though.

They Don't Stay On Well

By:

Well built, includes zippers instead of velcro (which makes me feel better), they look good, but: they don't stay on. They just got a snap and a zipper on the front, no drawstring, no belt, so if you're hiking or swimming or doing anything particularly active -- which they're supposedly meant to be able to do -- they start falling down. And heaven help you if you put anything in the pockets.

my new fav shorts

By:
March 17, 2009

i love these things! ive been using them for casual wear and quite a bit for rock climbing.

for climbing they have worked great! they have a slight vertical stretch in the fabric that keeps them from getting stuck when my knee is up high. highly recommended for rock climbing
