Columbia Heat Elite Jacket - Men's - 2010 BCS

Overall, this is a warm, trim jacket even in cold, damp 29 degree weather. The trim cut fits nicely under my Arc'teryx Theta AR hardshell. However, at 5'-8" and 170 lbs., I found the large a little snug at the collar and shoulders with a light Cloudveil fleece pullover underneath. A raglan cut might be better in future versions. The sale price makes this Columbia jacket a really great value.

When I received this jacket, I was hoping for something different. It definitely is different. It is a softshell/fleece, with insulation. It is a nice thickness, and i find it comfortable wearing with any layer combination. A tshirt when the weather is in the high 30s is plenty underneath for driving to work or walking around. I wore it in the single digits while visiting my mother in Vermont with a sweater underneath and it kept me warm as well. Water resistant, great looks in the all black, can feel comfortable wearing it out as a jacket when wearing business casual attire and not feel out of place.

All in all, highly recommended.

This jacket lives up to the name! Not too bulky and the lining seems to reflect my body heat back making for a warmer jacket compared to others of this style.

Im from chicago and usually I layer up on hoody's instead of wearing of one big jacket I'm in my car a lot and big parkas are very constricting. I was looking on the internet for a really good fleece and stumbled upon this jacket. At first I was skeptical about it especially for the price. I was wrong, this thing is awesome. One night I was out with some friends and the wind chill was 20 below. While my legs were cold no heat left my upper body at all. Also im writing this while the blizzard is moving through chicago, was shoveling my driveway for 45 minutes and was actually sweating. I highly recommend this jacket. The only thing wrong with it is it needs a hood. If u still need more warmth it's great for layering too but you want to put the other later on the outside because it will interfere with the omni heat otherwise. Thanx

You have to wear this jacket to truly appreciate the Omni-Heat technology. This is one of the most comfortable - and warm - jackets I've ever had. The reflective liner is super comfortable and breathes well. This is a great value for the $.

I'm 5'11, 165 lbs and got a medium. It fits a little too perfectly and I would definitely recommend going with a large if you want some layering freedom. It's a pretty warm jacket and has kept me toasty in the low teens with light winds. It has the feel of a slightly inflated jacket when you're wearing it, which I'm sure adds to the heat retention.

There's also a nifty little internal stash pocket about chest level.

I just started school in Minnesota and i wanted a jacket that would really keep me warm without the bulk of something like a down parka. I was skeptical about the effectiveness and comfort of the Omni-Heat lining, but after using it i am very impressed. The lining is very comfortable and really does boost the warmth as well as breathes well especially with the underarm vents. This jacket definitely does stand on its own and is still able to be layered under a shell if it gets really cold and windy.

At first glance I took this for a casual everyday jacket. After wearing it around I realized it's not just your ordinary dad jacket. The Heat Elite is no joke. It's surprisingly warm and extremely comfortable. For how technical it is it's a pretty good looking jacket as well. My own mother was shocked at how it made me look like an upstanding citizen. Bonus, the pockets are fleece lined and make my hands purrrrrr.

Tried this jacket in 15 degree weather with just cotton t shirt on and i was just fine. There is only one down fall above 32 F its to warm.

Great jacket. its very warm, the omni heat lives up to the hype for sure. love the pit zips. that's not something you would typically find for this kind of jacket. not sure if I'd call this a fleece jacket... its kind of in its own little world. So far I've worn this for just casual use such as walking across campus on cold days. its kept me warm...almost too warm on some days. I've worn it in the teens with a tee and have been perfectly fine. A large fits pretty good, a bit tight but not too bad: 5 foot 8 ish, 235 lbs, ~38 waist.

I have to admit, I was a little wary of this jacket at first. The omni-heat liner technology (same kind of material that they use in delivery pizza boxes) seemed too gimicky to be functional in a technical outerwear application. After waking up one freezing-cold early AM morning with this Jacket, I was sold. The tech really works. The jacket is now my go-to cold-weather piece. It works both as a nice insulating midlayer and as a classicly styled outer jacket. The great thing is that it actually warms more effectively as you continue to wear it. It heats up. My only qualm is the fit seems a bit too wide. Overall, great lightweight WARM jacket.

This jacket is warm, classy and waterproof. If you need a jacket that will withstand the brisk air on your adventure to the grocery store for soy milk and lentils this jacket just may be the answer.

This jacket is nice and toasty. I use it for anything from 10*f up to 40*f. It is a lite jacket with the added bonuse of the reflective heating material inside the jacket. It also wicks away water where needed when standing. Nothing wrong that I can tell!

Ever wonder how the pizza boy keeps your pie hot, and fresh on the drive to your house? Well Columbia has figured out how to do that with your body inside a jacket. The technology sounds gimicky, and hard to believe but it really does work!

This does provide that heat you want everywhere the jacket covers. (It doubles nicely as a sleeping bag top when you are sleeping in the parking lot at the bottom of your favorite resort.)

I would recommend this for very cold temperatures where you will be doing a lot of aerobic activities and just cold temperatures if you are going to be fairly stationary. This jacket is REALLY WARM.

This is a great jacket to keep warm on those cold cold days. A great, nice looking jacket that keeps you cozy with the silver omni-heat liner.

I scored one of these last winter. It really is warm. It immediately became my causal use jacket. But I also used it on those really cold days on the lifts. I have a Thermal PRo fleece that just wasn't doing it.
It is very comfortable. I like the elastic inner cuffs. Fit is great. It layers beneath my Arc'teryx shell.

I wasnt completely sold on this reflective lining on the inside... till i used it. It actually performs as advertised and heats you up immediately. Ive been using it as a winter fly fishing jacket and it sheds water better than I expected. I havent had issues with being cold and it breathes really well while hiking into locations.
