When you pack for your Alaskan adventure, be sure to bring along the Columbia Men’s Granite Tors II Shell. This seam-taped Omni-Tech rain shell has you covered should a downpour occur during your hike through alpine meadows. If you get hot while hiking in the rain, just open the chest vents to cool down. The Granite Tors II features Columbia’s three-point Interchange System, which means you can snap in a compatible Columbia fleece vest should the weather deteriorate further and temps fall.

Bottom Line: Be prepared for wet weather when you’re on the trail.

To help u gauge size - I have a small frame usually I wear a medium/small in outerwear and the Granite Tors large fits me well. I like the extra space so I can wear a fleece layer when the temps drop.

Short experience but...

I just came from a short hike with this jacket. So far the weather here (southwestern Germany) was fair during weekends. Not much rain to feel the real pros of this jacket. As the other person stated - it is breathable enough so the body keeps partially its heat. Specially I like the big side pockets. Very useful for small gadgets. In a nutshell - I would buy this jacket again.

It does not come with a liner so no need to worry there.

Trip to Ireland

By:
September 17, 2009

I wore this trip to Ireland during early September. The average temperature was low 60s and rainy. The coat was light and kept me dry. I would say it is breathable, but not to the point that you don't get a bit warmer from wearing it. I usually run a little warm, so that was my primary concern. I would wear a long sleeve shirt underneath this jacket and felt fine. I am very happy with the jacket and would purchase it again.

gotta be more specific, but it really isnt lightweight in anyway...isnt an ultralight packable jacket, and the lining makes it just a touch warmer than ur average shell-------------------------now thats what im talking about :-)...anyway yes this can be used in spring because it is just a shell, but i still think it favors fall
