The name of the Columbia Glacier to Glade Softshell Jacket says it all. This versatile hooded shell blocks the harshest elements while maintaining warmth on the mountain, then breathes and vents when the weather lets up so you don’t overheat in the valley. Omni-Tech fabric and fully taped seams block all water from entering and a removable powder skirt prevents snow from shooting up your back when you take a digger in the pow. Columbia partially built the Glacier to Glade Jacket out of eco-friendly materials to have less of an impact on the environment.

Bottom Line: For protection in every condition.

This one is just the shell, but the parka means there is a liner that comes with, and attaches on the inside, in this case one with a warm synthetic fill.

Nice fit- not exactly winter warm

By:

I fully agree with review above. This jacket looks very good and fits great. While i purchased it as a winter jacket it is better fitted as a nice spring/summer rain jacket. I actually needed one anyways but the jacket is a shell and not very warm. Whereas i can wear a tshirt under my north face inlux and be very warm- you will freeze in the same weather with this jacket. Overall though a great jacket, very good quality-just not very warm unless you purchase a liner. I sometimes use my columbia steen fleece under and it goes pretty well for warth and looks good.

The hood is zip-off.And you can use the TECH-interchange liners. These are the clip-in liners from columbia. This shell doesn't have inside zippers for the liners. You can use the old columbia zip-in liners but the will attach to the shell only at the wrists and back, the neck attaching points will probable be missing.

Multi-Climate with Style

This is a very stylish shell. The connected hood keeps you completely dry underneath even in heavy rain and slush. But the 'shell' is just that, there is barely a liner inside. It's more of a fancy raincoat than anything else. I needed to spend another $70 at the Columbia Outlet on a thick matching fleece, and even then it's still a little too thin for temperatures less than 10 deg F.

But I anticipate the problems I am having with winter weather will be benefits in the spring and summer. The jacket has vents that unzip under the arm (like a motorcycle jacket) that should make the jacket wearable well into late spring.

Can a ski helmet fit underneath the hood on the Glacier to Glade softshell? Regardless, I look forward to purchasing soon!
