This model does offer great stretch to fit as they grow. To give a blanket answer to your question, I am reluctant. There are so many sizes and shapes to heads out there. my only fear is that it may be a bit big at first if the 3 YO is small. I hope this helps

So cute and WARM. Our little man's head was sweaty after leaving it on while he was indoors. The 'Flame Lumberjack Plaid' color matches the 'Bark/Flame' Carson Cutie jacket perfectly.

This will run larger, which can be said about Columbia in general. I have bought Columbia stuff for my toddler and it definitely lasts a while for that very reason...Sicker than your average.

I bought the blue set for my daughter and she loves it. It's warm, soft and pretty looking. She is not a big fan of hats but has never complained about putting this one on, and would even put it on on her own accord and go see herself in the mirror!
