The Columbia Women's Edgewater Chino Pants are just as at home on a day hike as they are cozied up by a fire. Columbia made these casual pants with 100% cotton Chisel Cloth that feels soft against your skin and can stand up to the abuses of the trail. The Edgewater Chino Pants are part of Columbia's Authentic Fit line, which means they won't be too tight or too loose—just right.
Bottom Line: The Columbia Edgewater Chino Pants take on a trail hike or a relaxation day with ease.
They definitely have a high waist, which I'm not used to, but I really like them. They are crisp and fit well for my small waist and wide hips. They were long so I had them taken up. A very good buy.

Does this pant have a zippered side pocket beside the regular side pocket on the right side? Is this a slightly heavier cotton.Do the back pockets close with velcro and there are darts at the back sewed from the waist ?If not do you still have the pant I am describing?
The pant does have a pocket next to the right side pocket but it is a button closure, not zipper. The back pockets do not close with velcro, and the cotton is a heavier weight chino fabric. These are more for casual use and not technical. I would suggest looking at the Explorer Pant in our Titanium collection.
I really like these pants. I needed some comfortable, affordable chinos and I definately hit the mark with these. They are true to size with a slightly relaxed fit. I am 5'9" and wear a size 10.
I ordered all 3 colors because of the reviews that I read and find that each color has a different fit but nothing too shocking. The Sage color seems to have the longest inseam length while the British Tan seems to have a roomier waist line. The Stone is light khaki and not white as it appears to be online with the same fit as the Sage color except for the inseam. I'm thinking that Sage is a 34" inseam while the others are 33"?
I usually buy pants with a lower rise because I am very short waisted and was surprised at how high the waist is on these. But I think that while hiking and fishing, I'll be glad that the waist is high---no "plumber" issues when bending over or sitting down and no gap in the back at the waist. They're made to accommodate a rounder bottom. The back of the pants have traditional chino slit pockets in just the right place. Did I mention the buttoned "coin" pocket on the front right side? Fantasic! The SPF 15 rating is also a bonus.
Over all these are great pants--well made, reinforced seams and timelessly designed. I look forward to wearing them stylishly for years to come!
They fit like they were made for me. They do not shrink in the wash, nor stretch and sag in the Gulf Coastal heat and humidity. They are nice enough to wear to work (I work at a Mazda dealership-business casual), yet tough enough to pack for a hike. They fit nicely at the waist, and I love the fit of the legs.
I bought size 6 Short, which is my usual size and they should fit according to the size chart. But the pants I got are closer to a size 8 and not short. The waist is 31" and the length is 30.5". I own other Columbia pants in size 6 and they fit fine, but not these. Also, I would say the waist is slightly lower.
I'm giving 2 stars only because the chino fabric is nice and the pants would probably be ok if they were the right size.
