Instead of squishing and squashing when you wade out of the river or ocean, try the Columbia Women's Drainmaker Shoe. Its breathable open cell mesh upper with durable TPU toe cap and built-in drainage ports in the heel and forefoot allow for water to easily escape, so you're not lugging a ton of water around in your shoes. Columbia gave this shoe the feel of a lightweight running shoe with its meshy fabric upper, and lugged Omni-Grip Wet Grip rubber sole. Its Techlite midsole also provides you plenty of comfort when traversing across a small steam or walking across a stony shoreline when the tide has gone out.

Terrific Water Shoes

What sold my husband and I on these "water shoes" is the fact that they look like athletic shoes (not "water booties" or "mountain boots"). And they're both comfortable and stylish. However, the real value in this "water shoe" lies in their "draining technology." Be sure to scroll all the way down this page to see a video of the Columbia Drainmaker in action. Additional videos are available on YouTube.

We use these shoes for kayaking and they perform admirably. The outsole traction is very good. And, after launching our kayaks from a put-in-point (non-pier), we let our feet dangle outside cockpit for a few seconds to let our shoes "drain." And once home, we simply rinse-out these shoes with H20 from a garden hose, let them drain for a few seconds, and set them in the sun to dry.

All-in-all, these shoes have all the features that we were looking for in a "water shoe" while also at a very reasonable price. We like them so much that we're also thinking of buying second pairs strictly for every day, knock-around, leisure wear.
