It's name notwithstanding, There will be no turning back to the lodge in the face of bad weather when you're armed with the Columbia Women's Double Back Parka. You paid a lot for this heli trip, so if the 'copter is flying, you're skiing no matter what. This 3-in-1 jacket's stretchy, fully taped Omni-Tech shell offers great mobility as well as ultra-reliable waterproof breathable protection. Underneath, the softshell liner jacket features Omni-Heat thermal reflective lining to prevent precious heat from escaping into the ether. And when the weather takes a turn for the better the last few days, you have a choice of enjoying the fresh snow in either the outer jacket or the softshell alone.

  • Liner jacket treated with Omni-Shield advanced repellency to withstand light precipitation
  • Underarm vents allow heat to escape after an extra-long pow run
  • Comfort cuffs in the softshell include thumbholes for extra coverage and to create a no-gap interface with your gloves
  • Adjustable storm hood removes for sunny days
  • Powder skirt snaps back or even comes off when you’re off the slopes
  • Security and mesh goggle pockets help you stay organized on the slopes and in the lodge
  • Articulated elbows aid mobility
  • Abrasion-resistant chin guard protects you from chafing when you have the adjustable hood in lockdown mode on a stormy, windy day

Bottom Line: One-way ticket to outdoor fun.

The liner is Columbia's 3L Mobility Heat softshell. It may shed light moisture, but it's not waterproof.

Beautiful design, but not warm

By:

I bought this jacket with the intention of wearing it during the colder months here in Chicago. I wore it my first day out in +/-30 degrees with barely any wind and I was cold. I bike to work so I thought the wind was the problem, but even being outside with no wind it's still doesn't perform. There is no insulation. The coat is gorgeous and fits great, but it does not hold in the heat. Ironically, once indoors, the jacket becomes an oven.

Flawed design

This is an adorable jacket with an excellent reflective lining that bounces your body heat back to you. The flaw is the zipper, it required two adults to get it down after being outdoors and this is a SKI jacket, so that is pretty major. When the jacket was warm indoors the zipper glided up and down with no problem, but that is of no value at all. The zipper also caught on a small flap of fabric making it even more of a challenge. All in all, my daughter is very disappointed because she loved the design, and features, but a ski parka that can't be unzipped is problematic...it's going back on Monday.

awesome!

This coat is light-weight, cute, warm (as far as I can tell but I haven't gotten it in the snow yet), and functional. Two things about the color and the size: the inside color is bright red (I thought it would be more magenta) and the fit is pretty snug (I tried on other Columbia coats at a sporting goods store to get the size right and that was very helpful). Overall, I really like it and I would definitely recommend this jacket.
