Standard insulated boots not doing the job? Whether you’re running the ski lifts or heading out on snowshoes, plug in the Columbia Men’s Bugatherm Boot and enjoy up to eight hours of warmth thanks to its rechargeable heat pads. A three-setting temperature lets you control the heat, and some additional Thinsulate insulation does the trick on warmer days. The thermal rubber and waterproof nubuck upper’s Omni-Tech waterproof breathable membrane keeps wetness out. Columbia also lined the boot with AgIon antimicrobial protection to fend off foot funk, and the included dual prong AC charger lets you simultaneously charge the boots.
Bottom Line: Like a portable space heater for your feet.
How do they hold up when the heater isn't on? Sounds great for 8 hours, what about after that? Do you just freeze because they're built with that provided heat in mind? Just thinking bigger picture here.
this is a very capable boot on its own. It insulates from all directions, including from beneath. The heater brings you additional heat comfort on demand for when it gets really cold. just like seat heaters, you fire them up to when you are warm enough and then shut them off.
THEY LOOK LIKE A GOOD QUALITY PAIR OF BOOTS.BUT THE BAD?LIKE MOST BOOTS FROM COLUMBIA(I HAVE OWNED QUIT A FEW PAIR)THEY ARE TOO SMALL!SIZES RUN WAY TOO SMALL.I WISH THEY WOULD GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER AND MAKE BOOTS THAT WILL ACTUALLY FIT THE SIZE THAT THEY STATE.IN GENERAL,THEY PRODUCE GREAT PRODUCTS.

It seems that anywhere I look for these boots they seem to be sold out? What is the deal here and where can I get so information who may have these in stock? What is the price, I could not find the price anywhere?
looks like a great boot, well built.but.sizes run very small.i have found this to be the case with other boots i have tried to buy from columbia.i like all the products they sell, but i am tired of trying to find a pair of their boots that fit.i take a size 13 and for these boots to fit it would probably have to be a 14 wide.
Our son will be working on an emergency crew this winter - clearing creeks and aftermath from storms, and this boot sounds like it might be good for him. So... 1. Is the whole boot waterPROOF, or just the upper? 2. If whole boot is waterproof, how is the recharging area protected? 3. So... the description talks about standing in snow, but how does the waterproof aspect stand up to actual water -- like if you need to stand in water to get some aspects of your job done. 4. Ugh -- if standing in water, and boots are electrically heated, isn't that dangerous? Thanks!
I'll answer your questions in the order you posed them.
1. The entire boot is waterproof. It uses Columbia's Omni-Tech waterproofing to ensure the whole boot is waterproof.
2. The recharging area is just a little plug on the back of the boot. The actual battery and heating circuitry are sealed inside the midsole where water cannot get to them.
3. Since these are designed as winter boots the description mentions snow but neglects the other phases of water. However these are indeed waterproof, so they will keep your son's feet dry even if he's standing in a puddle.
4. No, since the heating pads and wiring are all sealed, no water can get in. Keep in mind the entire sole of the boot is rubber and rubber is a poor conductor of electricity.
Also of note, Backcountry is totally sold out of these boots. They may get more, but you'd have to ask one of their customer service reps to confirm that. Hope that helps.
