You're not afraid of monsters, asteroids, or tofu, so why would you be terrified by something as easily tamed as winter? Answer: you wouldn't be, not when you've got the Columbia Bugaboot Plus II Omni-Heat Boot blocking out the wet and the cold as you tromp through the frozen wasteland. Using a waterproof leather upper to seal out any moisture that crosses your path, the Bugaboot is a true winter workhorse, with a high-traction Omni-Grip rubber outsole that doesn't care how slick the terrain is, even if you're running uphill on a buttered skating rink. Tough, frozen terrain does dish out a beating, but the Bugaboot is well-equipped to handle it, with a rugged Techlite upper and midsole that will resist the inevitable beatings and cushion your feet when the going seems positively mean. The Omni-Heat insulation, rated all the way down to negative 25 degrees, finishes the Bug off with a toasty flourish.

  • Waterproof leather and Techlite upper

Where have you been all my life?!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I saw a similar pair of boots being worn by a customer at my job. I asked about them because my old winter boots had already worn itself out and they weren't even a year old. I also told her that my feet were in between regular and wide, which can be a problem when buying standard show sizes because I'm a regular 6 according to some brands, but I'm a 6-wide with other brands. The lady had told me she had that same problem and it works for her because her boots had given her enough room to allow her feet to breathe and not have it feel like it's being squeezed. Needless to say, she encouraged me to give it a shot. None of the shoe stores in my area had any winter boots because they were either out of stock or were already preparing for spring. I looked online and came across these boots and the fact they were 40% off, I jumped right on it and took a chance. Shipping was fast, despite having a slight delay because of the weather. Let me tell you, THESE BOOTS ARE GREAT!!! It's everything the lady told me: they kept my feet warm, kept the cold out and these boots gave my feet plenty of room to wiggle in and breathe, so I was extremely happy with my purchase! My only complaint is that they're stiff, but nothing a pair of gel inserts can't fix. Even though I highly recommend these boots, it's always best to try out the actual boots in a shoe store; what may fit me, may not fit you.

I returned them

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs small

They are warm and waterproof but incredibly rigid! They come up pretty high on the back of the leg so I am unable to wear them since they rub on the leg when I walk. They are restricting and walking and driving is cumbersome.

solid boots that keep your toes warm

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

i got these as a christmas present for my mom. then the winter of 2013/14 hit the east coast and she's been living in them since. she says they keep her feet warm and dry. they run a bit large but that works with thick winter socks. she hasn't had any complaints but she's not working in them (i saw some other constant use complaints). they are basically a snow boot for her.

Stiff boots!

I wanted to use them for snowshoeing in zero and below temps. These boots are really stiff, like downhill ski boots. They come up pretty high on the lower leg. I found them inflexible and uncomfortable.

Foot strangler

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

I actually got these boots to build a zipline course in Stevenson, wa ( If you aren't aware of the pacific north west it rains, it rains a lot. These boots were extremely tight for their size but I had no other choice but to use these boots. The traction is great and I'm a fan of the lightness of the boot but the waterproof itself never really held up for me. The shoe laces also never liked to stay tied or on their little lace hooks and would always come undone. If you have narrow feet and you aren't planning on standing in the rain for hours on end these boots might be for you but personally, I would get something different.

I am looking for a boot that truly keeps my toes warm. Appearance matters not. Would this boot or the Bogs boots be more likely to keep my feet warm?
