Description

Let your feet heat themselves.

The Columbia Bugaboo is a classic men's winter boot. It was designed to withstand frigid temperatures and sideways blowing snow with their fully-sealed seams and waterproof leather uppers. The Bugaboo Plus II Omni-Heat Boots take comfort to a new level with the addition of a full Omni-Heat reflective lining. As your body generates heat, and your feet get warm, the silver dots in this insulation help retain the heat. At the same time, this design also allows moisture to evaporate. The result are warm and dry feet. This technology also provides an average heat boost of around 20 percent. And to help keep you stable in slippery, slushy conditions, the Techlite Midsole has been layered upon an Omni-Grip outsole. This non-marking sole features multiple panels that hold tight to any terrain and provide surefooted confidence for all of your winter activities.

  • Waterproof leather upper
  • Omni-Heat reflective insulation lining
  • Techlite midsole
  • Omni-grip outsole
  • 6-inch shaft for ankle support

Great waterproof

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I got these as a gift and they have told me they work great. They are well insulated and nicely waterproof.

I have the same question as Jimmy: what's the difference between these and the XTM version? I see that the XTM seems to keep your feet warm in colder temps, but is that the only difference (well, that and the jump in price)?

Jonathan,
I answered Jimmy's question below, but to answer your question as well: the Colombia Bugaboot Plus II and the XTM models have the same durable and comfortable TechLite construction with Omni-Grip traction for rugged and icy terrain. The Bugaboot Plus XTM has a higher boot shaft height for additional protection from the elements and additional warmth and also has 3x the amount of Omni-Heat synthetic insulation for superior warmth when the temps drop. The Bugaboot Plus II has 200 grams of insulation, rated to -25 degrees Fahrenheit and the Bugaboot Plus II XTM has 600 grams of insulation, rated to -65 degrees Fahrenheit.

Great Boot

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I recently ordered this boot in the Stout/Cedar. According to other reviews of the boot I had read I ordered the boot a half size larger then what I normally wear because of the insulation. Now that I have them, I am glad that I did. There is plenty of room to wiggle the toes. Even with a heavy wool sock on they will fit perfectly. I have already worn them twice while clearing the driveway of snow in less than 20 degree weather and my feet stayed warm and dry. One thing I would suggest is to wear long socks. The boots do rub the calf and shin area but that is not an uncommon thing to be found in boots.

The only reason I give the boots 4 stars is because I have only had them for a week and want to wait to see how they hold up in the long haul. For now, I look forward to using these boots for years to come and seeing what they are made of.

I like this style but am unsure to get size 12 or size 13. Usually I wear a size 13 but I tried on some Brahma Boots today and discovered 13's were too big & 12's fit just right. So, what to do?

Best Answer Responded on

Hey Ken,
If you are unsure on size we can set up an order for you for both the size 12 and 13, then send you a free return label. You can try those on and see what size works best for you and send back the other size for a full refund. If you want to do something like that or have any other questions on purchasing this item/sizing feel free to get a hold of me at dgates@backcountry.com
