Historians are already calling the '90s the greatest decade to ever fall between the '80s and the new millenium. Columbia gives a nod to those simple times with the Men's Bugaboo Parka. This was the jacket that introduced us to the 3-in-1 jacket system. Sure, skiing in jeans has lost quite a bit of its badass cred, but the Bugaboo soldiers on.
Critically seam-sealed Omni-Tech shell keeps you dry and toasty
Zip-in interchange system for single jacket convenience
Media pocket protects your phone or MP3 player
Removable hood so you can customize the jacket according to weather conditions
Bottom Line: Grab your gaiters, we're going skiing!
This jacket is adequate for maybe walking around town in mild weather but doesn't do very well during Washingtons rainy season (i.e. January thru December). The rain soaks right into it with ease. The removable liner is also way to hot, breathes poorly, and the wind cuts right through it.
Even though this isn't gonna keep you super warm on its own when temps dip down into the twenty's and teen's, its a great interchangable jacket system, so when it does get colder i take out the inner fleece jacket and zip in one of my North Face down jackets to keep me nice and warm.
After trying on both of them I opted for the mens version cause they make it a little bit longer and parka like vs. the womens style. Plus it seems like manufacturers, not really in this case, but alot of times seem to make the mens versions of things with a little more care and with better quality products...not fair, lol...So i always try both options on and opt for the one that's more comfortable and better made...guess what, 9 out of 10 times it turns out to be the mens version...(always the case in sneakers)...weird...
Oh yeah, FYI: I have noticed that this thing attracts lint, pet hair and my own hair like white on rice, i have the all black one and i am constanly having to use the lint roller on it. Just something to consider if you have pets or are balding, jk...you might want to go with a more neutral color so hair wont show up as bad.

Searched everywhere for this jacket for my son, in the color he wanted. Discovered it at a great price at backcountry.com and had it delivered to him in North Carolina for Christmas. Since the weather had turned very cold there, I told him to open it and wear it now. He loves it and I'm so happy to have made him happy.
I'll definitely be visiting backcountry.com for future purchases!
I wore this jacket in Alaska this winter. I thought that it was to hot. Jacket needs arm pit vents. It does not breathe at all. It could also use a powder skirt. Not the best jacket for serious back country skiing, but if you are looking for a warm jacket on the front of the mountain, this is it. I was hot with just a base layer underneath.(temp between 5-15 degrees) But don't fall because your pants will be full of snow!!!
IF you want the lining to zip into the shell, the replacement piece you are looking for is the Ten Trails Fleece. Otherwise, the 3-point interchange system will allow a the Heat Elite, Fast Trek and more to tack in.
I ordered this jacket for my 15 yr old grandson and he loves it. He hates the cold and he says this keeps him very warm. When the temp drops below20, he wears a fleece underneath. Good purchase all-in-all.
Great jacket. Inner coat is stylish and functional by itself. The outer coat worked perfect on the slopes with a few layers underneath. Kept me warm, dry, and got lots of looks and a few compliments.
Get this jacket guys...it's functional and also some eye candy for the ladies....
At first, I didn't think the jacket would be warm enough when I purchased it to go skiing in Durango. During the trip, it snowed non-stop. The Bugaboo kept me warm and dry. The outside didn't soak in any water at all. The 3-in-1 system makes it easier to dry during the night when separating the two layers. The hood was also a plus in the constant snow. I definitely recommend this jacket.
