Columbia created the Bugaboo ¼-Zip Midweight Long-Sleeve Women's Top to act as either a base layer or mid layer and to keep you warm when you hit the slopes for a ski day. Thumb-hole cuffs keep the sleeves in place and eliminate exposed skin between your gloves and jacket. The Bugaboo Top uses an anti-microbial treatment to reduce odors, so you won't have to run to your room and change immediately after you get off the hill.

Comfortable Layer

As expected, it's warmer than a lightweight and seems adequate so far this winter (Delaware) that when worn under a turtleneck I don't need a heavyweight layer. I ordered a large and as a well endowed woman, I find that it's a bit snug and don't care to wear an item that clingy in public, so I use it as a layer. I haven't found a situation in which using the thumb holes is a plus. I also ordered the Patagonia Capilene 3 which my first choice between the two when dressing to brave those cold, cold mornings.
sleeves too short

Sending these back -- the sleeves are so short on me that the thumbholes are about 4 inches away from my wrist. (Not a great fit across the chest, either, and I'm quite average there.)
