The jacket looks great. It fit a little smaller than I thought it would though. It has the clasping liner on the inside too help trap heat. My daughter looks really cute in it.
My daughter is just about to outgrow her Columbia coat size 7/8,
My daughter is just about to outgrow her Columbia coat size 7/8, and I want to replace it - but the next size up is 10/12, which sounds huge (she's a petite 8 year old). Any idea how many inches Columbia skips upwards with the size increases?

Not sure on exact inches but 10/12 isn't as big as you would think. To put it in perspective a youth 18/20 is very close to a womens small.

It's synthetic. Columbia for some reason shot the photos on a lot of their jackets on a mannequin that made them look really fat. It's not as puffy as it looks.

We live in northwestern Wyoming and the jacket seems fine. At 0 degrees or lower, as long as you have layers on underneath, it should be fine.
