If the game is staying warm when the weather is cold, the Columbia Baselayer Midweight Tight with Fly breaks all the rules.

  • Slim, form-fitting design reduces excess fabric bulk for easy layering
  • Omni-Wick fabric's blend of polyester and four-way-stretch elastane provides a comfortable feel that wicks sweat and keeps your body temperature regulated
  • Omni-Heat thermal reflective tech reflects body heat back towards your skin for improved heat retention in cold weather
  • Fly design makes writing your name in the snow that much easier
  • Antimicrobial treatment prevents the fabric from accumulating odors over time

Bottom Line: Simple name; uncompromising warmth.

Excellent Base Layer Tight

Took a chance on this one not knowing much about it and have been very impressed with the quality and functionality.

It does exactly what you need this layer to do, keep you warm when it's biting cold and shed excess heat as you warm up. Fit seems true to size. Overall I'd give it a recommend to any guy looking for a solid base to their cold weather activities.

First thing that I noticed is that it is easy to get over my ski socks, unlike my under armor cold gear. You can feel the heat being reflected back to you as you move during cold days. I have yet to over heat wearing these, and I do a good amount of skinning, hiking, and traversing.

Hi, I am 184cm tall (approx 6ft) and weigh 90kg. I usually buy size L from Columbia - but for tops base-layers. For this bottoms long underwear, would you advise me to go for L size or for M size?
Thanks!

Alex, I think you could probably wear the Medium if your waist size is 34" or less.

I was a cap buyer for ages... I moved to wool for 10 years... and then this came along. I have flushed the fur from my baselayer lineup after just one day in this baselayer. The OmniHeat makes it regulate. the first day of use was a Fall run. It was 38F and overcast. I wore this top with a light shell and was just fine on a jog for 2 hours. It did not wet out nearly as quickly as the other pieces i have worn.

Skiing... I went cat skiing and spent some time hiking in the high alpine. People were going hot to cold, as they hiked then sat and waited their turn. I was one temp all day and the temps/conditions were all over the place that day.

It regulates and fits great. This is the first 5STAR i have given (this and the top piece too)
