Turn up the heat.

Aptly named after a mountain pass in the snow-socked Cascades, the Columbia Barlow Pass 550 Turbodown Men's Jacket is equipped to handle the coldest, snowiest conditions imaginable. Its Omni-Tech membrane keeps you pleasantly dry through serious snowstorms and icy winter precipitation. However, where the Barlow Pass Jacket really stands apart from the competition lies in its 550 TurboDown insulation.

TurboDown is a three-way blend of Columbia's best insulating technologies, giving you the benefits of synthetic and down insulation, as well as a thermal-radiating lining for fiery warmth in subzero conditions. 450-fill down insulation traps body heat within its lofty down clusters, combined with 100-gram Microtemp XF-II insulation for the utmost in cold-weather comfort. Retaining even more warmth, Omni-Heat reflective lining material works much like an emergency blanket with its high-reflectivity silver dots, keeping body heat from escaping through the jacket.

Other cold-weather features include a removable faux fur trim along the hood to shield your face from icy Arctic fronts and freezing alpine air, as well as a drop-tail rear hem for extra coverage in deep snow. Moreover, you'll find a zippered chest pocket, as well as two dual-access hand pockets for versatile storage options.

Great superwarm jacket but way too big

Great jacket but comically oversized. For sure size down unless you are going to wear like 3 layers underneath and live in north Greenland.

Serious winter coat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Serious winter coat that is very warm. This is not the coat for active activities. It's the coat to keep you warm and dry when walking around in chilly weather. Lots of pockets with side pockets working as hand warmers. I got the black which is really gray. I like the color. The hood is not very adjustable so it has limited use. I have a large head but it's still big on me. I am 5'11", 170 pounds and usually wear medium with large for some things. I got a small and it fits perfect with room for layers. This coat may not work well for smaller folks.

Perfect Winter Coat to Battle the Cold

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great winter coat, the down filling along with the Omni-Heat reflective lining that will definitely keep you warm in the coldest of temperatures. The fit runs a little large, I sized down & it was perfect.

Great coat.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I finally got to wear this coat today and it was -5. It is very warm for its weight and runs slightly large. Just enough for layers on cold days. Looks great too and had several compliments on it.

Great jacket - No brainer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this jacket for NY winters, mostly for hiking, spending time outdoor with dog. Pros: Very warm, I can wear this in very cold weather (mid 30's ) with a light later under and keeps me really warm. I love this as I can take it off in the car or indoors and not have to wear lots of layers. Pretty light for being a winter jacket. Quality: Excellent, Plenty of pockets. Color: Love it, fabric even has a light almost not noticeable herringbone pattern making it super nice. Used it in light snow and rain and kept me dry. Size: If this helps, I wear a 42 regular in suits or sports jacket and L fits me perfect. Cons: Not a dealbreaker, but I wish the zipper was not plastic rather than brass or something stronger. Would be perfect if the hood was detachable. Summary, amazing product showcasing Columbia's quality that never disappoints.

not as good as it seems

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned the Maguire Place II jacket from Columbia for a long time. And when I was looking for new one I wanted it to be similar to old. Unfortunately, everything turned out to be not as good as it seemed to me in the photo on webstore (due to the lack of a jacket in Ukraine, I bought it blindly in two sizes S and M). My height is 170 centimeters (5 feet 7 inches) The jacket is very large, and the above-mentioned Maguire Place II in size M is smaller than this one in size S, which makes it hang on me like a bag, and feels too. In addition to this, the ergonomics are terribly thought out, the jacket is simply inconvenient to use, I don’t understand how, with so much experience, it was possible to make such a craft.... Below is a list of shortcomings (you can see in the pictures): 1 and 8. The jacket is lower and the pockets are sewn in such a way that the hand does not reach them, you can see this (perhaps not much) by the angle of the elbow. Also, using the chest pockets causes pain in the joint after some time. 2. The sleeves look like they were took from another jacket, even with the presence of fluff inside they could have been smaller 3. The hood is made separately from the collar, and does not have a normal regulation system. When walking around the city, it was simply blown away by the wind. The existing adjustments could not solve the problem (7). In addition, in the removed position it cannot be tightened further by covering the back of the head from the wind. And after Maguire Place experiense it looks awful. 4. I didn’t think it would play a big role, but it turned out to be quite important. As a left-hander, it was very convenient for me to hide the phone in the right chest pocket, but here it isn't exist, using other pockets is less convenient (5). 5. The existing chest pocket is lined, which makes it difficult to use. 6. Sleeve adjustment doesn't look neat. The cuff itself is quite thick, I found it uncomfortable to wear the gloves. Together, this put pressure on the hand. 7. As mentioned above, adjusting the hood is useless, just like the hood itself. One of the advantages I can say is that in light rain the jacket did not get wet or blow out. Comfortable at 0 degrees Celsius, I wasn't manage to test at lower temperatures.

Warm, great for Colorado winters in the snow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent jacket. Worked perfect when it was 0 degrees recently in Colorado and kept the wind out. Anything below 45 and this jacket is perfect for me. It cuts wind good but some gets through. I was wearing just a t shirt underneath and could feel the wind, and the jacket runs a little large. I’m 6’1 and 175 and it’s a little baggy on me. However if you’re going to layer it works great.

Good for the Winter

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good, warm winter jacket that can get you through the coldest parts of winter. It fits a little big. Not crazy about the color selections. But it is a good design. The lower pockets are fleece lined. It has breast pockets. The material that touches against your face is also fleece lined. Second time buyer. Not the most stylish, but good against the cold.
