Getting the Columbia Men's Aquatooth Shoes wet while you hop into the river raft or kayak is no biggie, thanks to these amphibious shoes' drainage holes, open mesh uppers, and removable footbeds. Aggressive outsoles on the Aquatooth Shoes grip damp rocks on your portages, and the stretch-cord laces with locking toggles make it easy to slip into these Columbia shoes in the morning. Anitmicrobial protection in the removable footbed helps fight swamp stink, while drainage holes in the upper, midsole, and outsole of the Aquatooth let water escape after a dunking.

Bottom Line: Columbia's Aquatooth Shoes handle water and land with equal ease.

Great second hiking shoe

By:
January 16, 2009

I bought these to use as a camp shoe on my hikes. A little heavier than I wanted but they were excellent as spare hikers. waterproof. they drain well due to mesh sides and holes in the bottom, but what sold me were the treads on the bottom which gripped real well even on slippery rock! The only thing I dislike about them is the insoles(which are removable) curl up and slide backwards. would reccommend replacement with a Dr scholes insert for better comfort. I also use them as a fishing shoe both in salt and freshwater and have had no problems whatsoever with discoloration or wear. Highly reccommend for boating!!!

Hi I just got a pair of the Aquatooth shoes and they fit great

Hi I just got a pair of the Aquatooth shoes and they fit great with and with out socks for me. I wanted a shoe doubles as a sandal and hiker. My question is has anyone used these in salt water or around reefs and how are they holding up? Do you need to spray them with anything first? I e-mailed Columbia with the same question. I figure that is you rinse them off in with fresh water after they should be ok.

Rinsing them will solve any problems you might encounter, but there's nothing in these shoes that would be adversely affected by salt water in the first place. Also you should consider washing them in a washing machine. I do not have these shoes, but I have had various experiences with similar shoes that leads me to believe this. Especially if you are using them also as casual shoes, salt water will make them smell terrible and therefore should be washed.

I have had mine over a year and use them for fishing in both salt and fresh water. The only damage i have had has been to the removable insoles. They deform and get that funk smell. I also use them to cut my grass but rinse them after every use.

Columbia's Aquatooth Shoes

By:
November 3, 2008

I bought these shoes 2 days before leaving for the Caribbean, where I knew I'd be climbing every day through the jungle. They were perfect in an environment where it would rain frequently & the great treads never let me down. The pair I just bought are my second pair. They can get funky when using them barefoot in high heat for an extended period but came out of the washer without damage.

The laces are sewn in so unless you have a little sewing skill, they are not replaceable. They can be replaced but it's a pain. Here is a good website for different lacing systems:http://www.tyless.com/

Great shoe if you pak light

By:

They fit great for my foot. I tried them on with and with out socks. I even was able to use my merino wool hiking socks in them. I have a narrow foot.

Dark gray and black socks work well with these making them look like a bit like regular shoes.

Bought these as a Travel shoe so that I only have to pack one pair of shoes in my carry-on luggage. These shoes fit perfectly in my 22" suitcase
