Robin,
Have you tried contacting Coleman customer service? The following link has several options for you: http://www.coleman.com/coleman/ColemanCom/DearColeman2.asp
My guess is that if they 'on' switch used to click on, and doesn't anymore that the switch/knob broke. But try contacting Coleman. Good luck!

Way cool! I mean hot!

We are using this as an outdoor shower in a fixed location. I didn't realize until I read the manual that the intake hose has a submersible pump on the end. Instead of trying to attach it to the collapsible 5 gallon container, I dropped the intake line into a 55 gallon barrel of rain water. Also, for a fixed location, you can buy the propane converter hose that lets you use a refillable tank instead of the little cans that you can't reuse. We also got the shower head. Very easy to use. Good temperature control. Easy to take off the shower head and get hot water for tea. The 6v battery can be recharged with 120v or 12v and both plugs are included so it would be easy to use this off the grid or even off the map.

I would like to know if you could use this to warm up the water

I would like to know if you could use this to warm up the water on a inflatable water slide? I use a continious water source water hose to keep the water running.

I couldn't see why not. You have to submerse a pump into water and it sucks it in, heats it up, and spits it out another hose. The hose that i had used with it was a shower head and had a decent amount of water pressure so i imagine you could substitute the hose and have a toasty water slide.

Better than my home shower

By:
November 15, 2009

This thing is awsome. I used it in Montana while camping and just stuck the pump in a bucket of water, fired it up, and this can get hotter than your shower at home. It is adjustable to fit your showering needs and works great. It also used very little gas which is a huge plus. This thing makes you feel a bit more human when camping for an extended time.(i didn't buy it but i suppose it's worth the cost, especially when camping with multiple people)

If you could rig a loop of water through it somehow, yes. Otherwise it'll give you hot water for the Jacuzzi (after a ton of refills), but it won't keep it hot.

It hooks up to the tank via a drop in pump with a hose attached. It can use any (clean) water supply. Reviewer above dropped it in a 55 gal drum. Also, it burns propane, so you need to have ventilation. If you try to use it in a small shed, it could kill you.
