The Coleman 8D Pack-Away Lantern is the brightest of Coleman's family-size lanterns. With the fluorescent spiral U-tube outputting 15W, the Pack-Away lights up the darkest campsite for up to 26 hours. The lantern operates on eight D batteries (not included), so you don't have to worry about matches or flame. Coleman designed this square lantern with reflectors which efficiently direct light upward and outward.

Bottom Line: Cut through the darkness with the Coleman Pack-Away Lantern.

My lantern doesn't stay in the up position. It keeps sliding

My lantern doesn't stay in the up position. It keeps sliding down to the compact position. Is there a way to keep it locked in the upright position? Thanks

The thing that clicks into place is probably worn out. Get a new one. Better yet, get a different one. Black Diamond Apollo is superior to this lantern in every way.

Cheap Light in Your Tent!!

By:
May 14, 2009

This is a cheap and easy light that is safe to use in your tent. I alway take this with me when I am car camping (never when I am backpacking though, because it is HEAVY). The light portion of the unit slides up and down to save room when not using it. It has 2 brightness settings and does an awesome job at keeping the tent lit up. There are much better quality lights like these out there, but this is a cheap purchase that has done a great job times the many times I have used it.

Which position is the off position? I think I ran the batteries

Which position is the off position? I think I ran the batteries down because it wasn't off while I wasn't using it. There are 4 different symbols. High, low, a circle and then a smaller filled in circle with lines on either side of it. I think just the circle is the off position but I want to make sure. I just spent another $10 on batteries. Thanks, Tami
