Cloudveil Switchback Jacket - Men's - 2006 BCS

The Schoeller Dynamic fabric is the star of this jacket, the design is not. The sleeves and body ride up excessively when you raise or reach your arms. This is what I'd expect out of cheap jacket, not a high end one. It's all in the design and cut of the shoulders, and the Switchback is just poor. Why does Cloudveil not use the articulation and cut of the Rayzar or Serendipity is curious to me because they know how to do it correctly. The best fabric in the world does not make up for poor implementation of it .

I speak from much experience with their goods, and I like Cloudveil goods very much, as I own the Serendipity, Koven, Prospector and Enclosure hooded jackets, all of which are well articulated. This one though, is not up to the standards set by Cloudveil themselves.

Yes, Dynamic fabric is every bit as good as advertised and then some , but I can't consider this one until they redesign it to the level is ought to be at.

I have used this jacket as a light layer over my wool sweater and I really like the fit and warmth. Very tough as well.

INCREDIBLE what you can get out of a jacket these days. No moisture absorbing and rugged abrasion resistance, water resilience and wind cutting, yet stylish and comfortable; Dare I say apparel with sex appeal. When you want something to cover up and take the bite from the wind and protect you from the suns rays, but you require it to breath and not absorb moisture because you are hiking like a banshee headed straight for hell and sweating like _____(fill in the blank) in church and at the ridge top that wind is whipping up the chill factor on a cold clear day of skiing or you want something light enough to hang around the Paragliding launch in the hot sun and still deflect the winds at altitude, OR a do it all jacket that is the first choice off the rack for any and all action activities, then you want this incredible jacket.

It's lightweight, comfortable in a wide range of temperatures, and looks great on the trail and in town. I have the tobacco colored version, and have gotten many compliments on it. The silicon nanoparticles are the icing on the cake. Fortunately I didn't have to squirt ketchup on my own jacket, as you can find online gear reviews from people who have. Reportedly works as advertised.
