Here's what others have to say...

hi all! how would this compare to Patagonia...

hi all! how would this compare to Patagonia Capilene 4? Thanks! :-)

Responded on

They are pretty similar. The Capilene 4 may be a bit thicker than the RDW 1/2-Zip. I have used the RDW often over the years and like how low the zipper goes to vent on the way up, during work.

Amazing

I have always bought the patagonia equivalent of this shirt, but never will again. I bought it on sale for half the cost of the older version of the Patonia R4 but this is so soft, comfortable, and all around amazing!

Cloudveil Run Don't Walk 1/2-Zip Shirt

The best layering I have ever used. Keeps wrists and hands warm with no "riding-up" of sleeves. Like the stretch of the material also. Have now bought a second.

cloudveil run don't walk1/2 zip shirt

i have wear this shirt for 2 weeks it is a warm shirt but the snit around the neck is to wide so the wind comes in.
the shirt is after 2 weeks wearing already pilling so the quality is bad.
i have the same shirt from mammut for 4 years and it is not pilling, so the quality of the cloudveil is bad for the price, i would not buy this shirt for sporting or mountain trips.

Great mid weight layer

I bought this top for cold nights cross country skiing under the lights on Casper Mountain. Very warm under an outer layer and I've also used it as an outer layer in warmer weather. I'm 6'3 and 190 lbs and the large fits perfectly.

Nice!

This thing is super comfy and very warm. The first time I put it on I wore it skiing all day, and at the end of the day I still didn't want to take it off because it just felt so good.

FREE SHIP "LAME"

Free ship offer is such a scam..... I could have made the top myself in the 9 days it took to get to me!!!! Many other reputable companies out there that off "FREE" shipping that doesn't involve the Pony Express....
Will definitely take my business elsewhere!

Responded on

This makes me think twice about ordering from this company.
Guess I will look elsewhere.

I have had awesome delivery times with backcountry. Things usually ship way faster than the stated 7-10 business days! Ive gotten mine a 2-3 with free shipping.

Responded on

Backcountry offers great shipping and not to mention the fact that everything they sell is backed with a lifetime warranty while competively priced. You guys are crazy if you think you'll find a better all-around deal someplace else.

Responded on

Thanks for your terrific insight into this top--it was SO helpful. God I hate it when people ding the product when it's really the company selling it that they are unhappy with. If you're unhappy with the ship time, choose a faster option. Don't blame Backcountry for your mistake--they're an outstanding company.

Responded on

If you are in such a hurry just pay for the delivery. It's not Backcountry's fault you are a cheap-O...
I agree with drewdoty everything that I have ordered so far shipped in 2 days.

pilling

this is a great shirt. i just got one for christmas and i wear it all the time, running, telemarking, snowshoeing etc. i've never had anything with thumbholes and now i'd like to seem them on everything.

the only beef i have is that after the first washing it's starting pilling. bummed about that.

Great, versatile top

I bought this top thinking it would be a great heavyweight insulating layer to use while snowboarding. While it performs this job very well, it also works as a great lightweight pullover for cooler weather. The power stretch fleece is just awesome. It is a very versatile jacket that looks good and is super comfortable as a layer against your skin or on top of another layer. While the fit is "athletic" it is not overly tight - the XL fits my 5'10" 225lb body great.

I have not purchased or tried on Cloudveil...

I have not purchased or tried on Cloudveil before..I need help with sizing. I'm 5'11 and 187 lbs...interested in the 1/2 zip long sleeve fleece.. I plan to workout in it so I would like it somewhat athletic.

Responded on

I'd say Medium. I'm 6'0 190 and thats the size I wear. Hope that helps!

Write your answer here...go with a large since it is an athletic fit

Fantastic!

I'm a big fan of the Power Stretch fleece. This is my fourth shirt in the fabric, the others being this shirt in a hoodie, a MH piece and a Backcountry.Com piece. This Cloudveil has some really nice features. The zipper is really deep, and has a nice storm flap behind it to keep out some wind. I also dig the longer sleeves and thumbholes. Love the zipper pocket on the top of the zipper, keeps the edge of the zipper from poking my neck. (which my BC piece is bad at doing) At 6'4"/200lbs, the large fits fantastic, plenty of length and a nice trim fit. And the red looks great, too!

Great new fit, same great warmth

Just got this in the mail yesterday, and I've got to say that I love it! I was a little nervous about the new ownership of the Cloudveil brand, since in my opinion there quality was falling off drastically in recent years anyway, but my fears were totally unfounded. In fact, I was super happy that for the first time in about 6 years, I got a Cloudveil product that didn't fit like a sail in the midsection. The cut of this piece is now more athletic and tailored, and it drops down some in the back now, which I really like. Overall, I'd say that the new management hit it out of the park, and I'll be trying out some of their other pieces now after being put off in the past by the cut of their products. Great piece!
