The Cloudveil Women's Koven Jacket is an athletic-fit hardshell that offers watertight protection for hardcore backcountry users. Cloudveil made the Koven Jacket from a waterproof fabric that is twice as breathable as competing 3-layer laminates, allowing your sweaty exhaust to get out before you get clammy. The Koven Jacket features a helmet-compatible hood, fully sealed seams, and a storm-sealing collar for powdery face shots. Other conveniences include oversized hand warmer pockets, easy-access Underarm zips for venting, and a layering-friendly athletic fit.

Bottom Line: Cloudveil's Koven Jacket has the weather protection you need combined with breathability you'll love.

Is this jacket good for skiing inbounds on cold days or should I go for the RPK if I'm not spending much time in the backcountry?

Better than a shell

The Koven is my favorite and most worn coat I own. In basic terms, it is a shell with a little extra. So on super cold days, I don't have to wear six layers under my coat to stay warm. And the pit-zips are great for regulating temperature on warm days or when I'm hiking. The cloudveil team also built all kinds of cool features like a place for your Ipod, googles, and ski pass. The collar is awesome. It is big enough to bury your entire face in and keep it shielded from the cold and wind. The stow away hood is great too for chilly days. The koven is perfect for women, a shell with a little more warmth.

The jacket fits pretty true to size with a few lighter layers underneath. If you wanted to fit a light down, it would probably work but could be a bit tight in movement depending on where you fit on the scale of your size- whether you're a small small or larger medium etc. If you fall on the smaller end within your size category, it should work well. Hope that helps.

I got the Koven after wearing a heavier insulated jacket for a few seasons. When I first tried it on I was worried that the shell wouldn't be warm enough, especially because it weighs next to nothing. But I tested it out skiing on one of the nastiest, windiest days this season and it stood up amazingly well. The Koven is completely water proof and wind proof, and is amazingly breathable to boot. Can't wait to take this baby touring.

Hi, are you able to confirm how breatheable this jacket is? I am looking for a jacket. I am skiing in Australia and it is definitely not as cold as in the states, so would need a jacket that breathes well.

Thanks,

Nadya

It's a verstile jacket and pretty breathable. It withstands the rougher elements but also is great for warmer days and has built in design elements that allow you to cool off if necessary- i.e. mesh pockets and pit zips. Great jacket for spring skiing, and as an outer layer in the colder winter months.
