Four Pines Insulated Pant - Men's

Cloudveil dialed in the Men’s Four Pine Insulated Pant with a slightly looser fit and PrimaLoft Sport insulation for progressive freeride style in cold conditions. The textured waterproof breathable Cirrus Tweed fabric blocks out wet snow, while the side thigh zips let you dump excess heat on the bootpack. Internal gaiter stop white smoke from blowing up your legs, and the large belt loops let you slang it low in the park.

Bottom Line: A progressive pant that has the cold dialed.

Black Ink = Brown

Great ski pants. I really WANTED pants that are black, so I was a little surprised to find dark brown pants when I opened my shipment (I sort of wondered why they would put the word "black" in the color code when the pants are clearly closer to brown). But hey, it's hard to complain about these pants once I used them.

My first use of these pants was actually when I wore them on my walk to school in Chicago when the temp was about 0 and the wind chill was about -17. All I wore underneath these were scrub bottoms. Wow - my legs did not even come close to feeling any of the cold/wind. My buddies at school said, "Are you wearing ski pants, or are you wearing dress pants?"

Which brings me to the way these look. The pattern on the pants is much more pronounced than what you see in the picture. It really does resemble a dark, patterned dress pant from Express when you think about it. Very stylish, very nice looking and modern yet subdued compared to some of the crap that is out there.

GOSH DO I WISH THESE WERE TRUE BLACK THOUGH!!!

One last thing is the fit. I'm 5'11" 165 lbs with a 32 waist. I ordered a medium (which didn't leave ANY room for layering) and a large (which would possibly/probably slide off my hips if I just wore boxers underneath). I stuck with the large, and I'll try to wear a thick layer underneath it and adjust the velcro straps at the top accordingly. There's always the belt loops if ABSOLUTELY necessary, although after wearing these a few times, I don't think I will have a problem.

Great pants, nice insulation. If you couldn't tell, I only wish the Black Ink was truly black.

How high is the waist on these pants? I am concerned about getting snow down the back of these pants. Are these pants bomber?

I used these pants over 30 days this winter, skiing and snowboarding at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, and they were bomber and still look and feel great. The waist is normal height. I went with an XL for size and use suspenders. I like to wear them big for inbounds riding. For backcountry riding I use a lighter, non-insulated pant. The Jacket snaps to the pants at three points on the powder skirt, which allowed NO snow to enter my backside!

This pant is well suited to any extreme weather. With only a light weight base layer on screamin' cold days, they endure and insulate far better than any other pant I've owned. The fit is right-on, just enough room to give you that personal space, whether it be trekking, boot-packing, hucking cliffs, or aprés-ing, without leaving you looking like a sloppy teenager who seems to buy their get-ups in the big-and-tall section. I've gotten countless complements on these, to boot. Well done, again, Cloudveil, hats off to you. And also to BC for providing them at a stellar value!...
