I'd been looking into Carhartt, and while this jacket definitely isn't Carhartt tough. I can see that this jacket can handle the job. It is thinner than I would have liked. But, I'm in Florida what do I need a beefy heavily insulated jacket for. I will be able to layer it well and wear it all the time. It needs to get a little dirty it looks a little preppy and trying too hard. But, with some stains and a little fraying in the cuffs from use I see this jacket becoming my favorite. Plus picked it up on a steal from SAC!

It's just a thick cotton jacket. Shell to me implies waterproof, which this definitely isn't.

This jacket looks good, quality zippers and buttons. Only complaints are that the material feels light/thin and the white logo really stands out on my green jacket. I decided to return it and look for something more sturdy but if you just want a good looking light jacket for spring walks this Jacket deserves some consideration.
