Utility with style.
The Chrome Front Rack Duffel Bag is built to add weatherproof carrying capacity to your porteur-style rack. The waterproof roll top construction lets you secure loads of varying size, without worrying about what Mother Nature has in store. And since it’s backed by Chrome’s lifetime warranty, you know that this bag will put up with years of daily use without complain.
This bag is constructed out of waterproof 600 denier nylon up top, with an abrasion-resistant Hypalon base panel. The panels are bonded by a knurled welded construction, which uses high frequency radio waves to permanently bond the pieces of fabric. This is an essential step for creating a truly waterproof bag, and minimizing bulk. This bag has two quick-release straps to secure it to a front mounted, porteur style rack, which makes it perfect for touring or the daily commute. And the burly tote straps make it easy to carry over your shoulder.
The Chrome Front Rack Duffel Bag is available in a 40L size, and in the color Black.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I bought this as a gift for my husband, and here is what he has to say:
"My wife looked high and low for a bag that could handle riding in all sorts of weather and would work on my rear Surly rack. I was skeptical that this bag, which is marketed as a front rack bag, would work on my Surly rear rack, turns out with works really well. I'm guessing you can't fill it as full of stuff as you could for a front rack, so I can't carry my laptop in it like I can with a pannier, but that's fine because you wouldn't want all that weight to have such a high center of gravity anyway.
It fit shoes, shower stuff, a change of clothes, and a water bottle perfectly and I was able to cinch it down so I didn't even notice its weight. I was blown away with how well it mounted on my rear rack. I can't speak in too much detail about how it'll handle keeping my clothes dry, but judging by the way I had to let air sneak out of it while I was rolling it, and how bomber the seams and fabric feel, I have no doubt it'll more than do the trick.
And I was in need of a duffel bag, so it's a sweet double whammy that it looks super slick in hand...
Oh, I was also able to put my Lezyne tail light on the fold of the bag above the clip, which was sweet."

- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is a great bag. I realize it isn't designed for it, but I used it on the back of my motorcycle for a 1200 mile tour. Stayed in place and kept everything dry. That's all I could ask for. Seems very rugged and well made, but is light weight. I wish the grab handles had some place to attach to, so the weren't just flapping in the breeze. A shoulder strap would have also been nice off the bike. If it can handle the motorcycle I am sure it will be fine on a bike.
Hi i recently purchased a 2014 Raleigh port Townsend and was curious as to if this would fit in the front rack that came stock with it being a smaller cargo rack? Is there enough stability in the bottom of the bag for the extra 2
What's the smallest footprint this bag would require? I have a Wald 1372 basket on the front of my bike. Inner dimensions are 13 1/2" x 9 3/4". Would this bag fit?
Hey Derek - This Front Rack Duffel is 14 x 11 x 8 inches so I don't think it will easily fit in your Wald 1372 basket. This bag is really designed to attach to a front or rear bike rack. Check out the Chrome Niko Sling (Item #CRM001A) which is a little smaller. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.
